As i see it, we first have to take care of our d-line play, fix that then we help out the linebackers and then we look at the upgrade for the other OLB.

I think we have to add a player to the dline, i dont think the answer to give us some push up the middle is on the roster.
Raji didnt have a good season, he looked winded and probaly played more snaps than he should have because of the lack of depth.

Wynn, Howard, Wilson are just bodies..
Neal hasnt proved he can provide anything, jurys still out on him
Pickett is getting old, but can still play the run.

Regardless of the dline situation is I agree that the second OLB spot needs an upgrade, but i dont think Super mario is the answer, nor do i think cliff avril will be able to help us out, and they will both get more than they are worth. I think we need to look at the draft, and go defence with our first 2 picks because we could need help at all levels, pick the best defensive player avaible for us in round 1 and 2, wether it be DL, LB or DB

another option to beef up the weak side it Calias (sp?) Campbell the DE from AZ.

he's 25 and UFA and had 8 sacks

I'm going to take the easy route and say Ted Thompson builds the defense through the draft. A few names to think about...my preferred order

Ronnell Lewis (Oklahoma)
Nick Perry (USC)
Vinny Curry (Marshall)

Would love to have Courtney Upshaw (Alabama) opposite of Clay Matthews but unless Ted Thompson works some draft magic like he did to land CM3 (and Raji), I don't see that happening. It would be nice to see a repeat of the 2009 draft with Ted Thompson taking an OLB and D-linemen in the first round.

With that said, Jared Crick (Nebraska) would be the other rookie I'd like for the Packers to compliment with the above mentioned names.

If Ted Thompson digs into FA, I'd hope he would land a 3-4 DE and let the draft work out the OLB problem.

#1 priority is PRESSURE opposite Clay.Get him some more 1 on 1 matchups,"Then no can defense.".Screw being high up on the QB pressure list.I want more sacks from this defense. It felt like they couldn't get off the field on 3rd and anything at the end of the season.

In the end, though, I'm with Finnie. I wouldn't put very high odds on it either. I have a hard time seeing Thompson jump on anyone in the first week of free agency. And that, as much as the money, is what getting a Campbell or a Williams or Avril is going to take.

I can imagine scenarios where Ted might get involved in a bidding war and end up overpaying. But doing it all in the first week. That I can't see. He might go wait-and-paybig. But he'll not go nowait-and-paybig.

we could always draft a NT and move Raji to end, which given his play last year I think should be an option..

Alameda Ta'amu is gonna be a good one. and should be in the second round somewhere.

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : *had to be IRed at 53
Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
