yes I realize this. (I have quoted the saying hundreds of times. Many on this very board.) If you read my post I already stated there is good in practicing inside. I know the merits and benefits of doing so. My comment is that while there is a positive aspect to doing so there is also a draw back.

MM said they practice with the heat off and the doors open. It is cold but not physically punishing cold.

They also got a couple practices outside before the snow. They don't want anybody slipping and blowing out a knee in the snow.
I want to go out like my Grandpa did. Peacefully in his sleep.
Not screaming in terror like his passengers.

Of course they don't want anyone to slip in the snow. That is why, in the past, they cleared the practice field after a snow fall.

Nitschke Practice facility has a "Grass Master" playing field with heating pipes under the playing surface located in South end of Nitschke Practice Field This is the same set up, as playing field at Lambeau Field.
There is also an other playing field on north end of Ray Nitschkee Practice facility. it is not heated under playing surface. The South field is the one that Packer practice on during the winter months. This heated practice field keeps the Packer chance of getting leg and knee injuries at a minimum during the winter months.

.

It has been said the former Packer head Coach Mike Holmgren (1992-1998)
very seldom took the Packers out of Don Hutson Center during the winter months. Mike had all doors in Hutson Center opened and shut off the heat.

There is distinct home field advantage for Packers playing in Green Bay at Lambeau Field in winter months of Dec. and Jan.

1939 to 2010 Play off games in the Green Bay-Milw: Packers Won 15 Packer lost 3.

1990-2010- Regular season games played in Green Bay and Milw in Dec. and Jan. - Packers won 38 lost 9

PTW,
I thought the Nitschke field was heated. I started to look at the south field (Hinkle Field) but I could not see it very clearly. It did not have the lights of Lambeau shining on it, the screen was up and I was not longer on the sidewalk next to the fence.
I thought about mentioning that in my post a couple of days ago but it slipped my mind.

Hmm seems Coach Mike has learned the error of his ways . Opening the doors and practicing inside is NOT the same as being out in the elements for a few practices.

Going outside: In 2007, McCarthy and the Packers practiced indoors in the postseason and it cost them. The New York Giants upset them at a bone-chilling Lambeau Field in the NFC Championship Game. This season, with possibly two games at home, do not expect McCarthy to repeat history. Nitschke Field is equipped with heated coils under the surface.

"We have the ability to practice outside, as we did not in '07, just because of the field conditions," McCarthy said. "Having Nitschke Field now that's heated is a big bonus for us, so the ability to handle the football is something we've been trying to spend a lot of time on the last month, and having the opportunity to do it this upcoming week and next week is really beneficial."

One thing that's definitely advantageous is getting this bye week.

It depends on the opponent. I think with Dome opponents it can certainly help. I see it as a disadvantage against the Giants who I am predicting we will play our first game against.

I do like the way Grant played against the Lions. The running game taking time off the clock and providing us yards I think will be important if the weather becomes windy and cold.

A concern I have with this team is that they tend to score too quickly. They remind me of the early 90 Bills whose offensive was explosive, but barely gave their D a chance to catch their breath.

In the last five years, the divisional-round hosts are .500 (10-10). That record improves going back to 2000, to 28-16 for the home teams.
