Packers, Colts headed in opposite directions in making NFL history

According to R.J. Bell of Pregame.com, Las Vegas oddsmakers would make the Packers 25-point favorites if Green Bay were to play the Colts this season. That would be the biggest spread in league history.

"Between the No. 1 and No. 32 teams," Bell said, "there's a bigger distance than there has ever been."

With a victory next week against the Raiders, the Packers would equal a team record for regular season victories (13), which has only been accomplished four times previously: 1962, 1996, 1997, and 2007.

What I find interesting is the Colts may opt to keep Peyton Manning instead of Andrew Luck. That' the opposite of what Green Bay did with Aaron Rodgers and Brett Favre. The Packers 100% bet the farm on Rodgers, who they clearly believed in from day one. They put the team ahead of one player. The Colts may do the opposite or that is what some are suggesting. That's where I see the two teams on opposite sides of history.

I'm not saying this because I'm a Favre fan and a Manning hater (of which I admit I am both). I'm saying this based on what I've heard about Manning's injury. I can't see Manning playing two full seasons when (or if) he comes back.

You can't have a guy on your team who won't "allow" you to have his replacement on the roster. That's not leadership. That's bullshit. Thank god we had a GM with sufficient testicular fortitude to prepare us for the day when we would need someone new at the position. The Colts are finding out the hard way what it's like to not have done so.
