I don't have a big problem with this. The makeup in character is quite strong on our team. We only have one trash talker so to speak in Finley to worry about. Woodson is still a player capable of backing up this kind of statement. It is a display of confidence in himself and his team. Hopefully it is also confidence in their defense turning it around. Communication is the biggest problem followed by decreasing effectiveness of our down-linemen across the board.

Anywho, why are you all talking about how you don't like to hear this? In the same interview Charles talked about the flaws of the defense and the work that needs to be done to get it turned around. Hes not losing sight of the goal, hes not losing track of what he and the defense need to get done. He is just stating that he wants to go undefeated. What player/team wouldn't?

edit #4:
So the article this thread was based on apparently cut out every single thing he said besides the undefeated part, so now I understand the discussion in this thread. I recommend taking a gander at a more lengthy article on the subject before you react.

The Colts turned their head and New England ignored the questions. Neither won a Super Bowl. I would rather the Packers embrace their opportunity at history. Don’t shy away from it and don’t ignore questions about it. Hit everything head on. That’s the best approach to handling a situation like this one.

With that said, I don’t think you can realistically talk an undefeated season until you reach 10-0. Once you get to double-digit wins, then there is something in the air. Until then, I would focus on covering people if I was Woodson, but his approach is the right one to take. Just not right now.

So what's to be bothered by here, really?

The mythical bulletin board material that magically works once every 10 games when the underdog actually beats the big guy and gets ignored the other games? That belt celebration is a great example. Never came up as being a big motivator, untill we lost against the Cards... All of a sudden Rodgers was arrogant and overconfident.

The fact that a football player is confident, even when he's not having his best season? Woodson's still far from a liability.

We're 8-0. All we need is another 8-0. Why does it suddenly change from not being able to be spoken about to being acceptable at 10 or 12 wins? If anything, we could drop a game or 3 now if we don't start thinking about 16-0. 15-1, 14-2 and 13-3 generally don't make a huge difference, anyway. Where'd the necessity come from, otherwise?

I like this as something to actually keep the players going and keep them hungry.

Yes, I know that we hardly have a 16-0 defense at this point in time, but it is a defense that comes up with some key plays at key moments... And I'm not sure how long the offense can keep rolling like this, but when your offense is scoring 34.4 points per game, you can cover some stuff up.

The irony in all of this is that, if we'll lose one, it'll most likely be to a lack of pass rush. Being the bitter, cynical egomaniac that I am, I would be gloating a tad bit in my anger that that happened to be the part lacking for us to go undefeated...

I don't even want to hear these guys talking about an undefeated season because after Mondays game against the vikes we play against all teams that are 500 or above. The combined record for the 1st half of the season for the opponents is 28-38 and we won 4 of those games by one score or less. Now the 2nd half of the season the teams have a combined record of 38-27. So lets just worry about getting to 11 wins to make sure we get in the playoffs and then lets get the divison and if we are still undefeated after 13 wins then we can start the talk of undefeated. I gave us about a 5% chance of going undefeated.
Yes it's nice to talk about it but lets take the goggles off and think about it, we face 2 division leaders and 2 wildcard teams, thats 5 of the games there.

So I wish our guys would just be quiet and get the defense playing on a level they were last year.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

I love it when people talk about Yeh record of the teams the Packers played....discounting that the Packers WON which lowers that winning percentage. Genius.

Fact is, against the teams the Packers played, ... collectively speaking they gave those teams 8 of their losses. Seems pretty naive to use that against the Packers. Well, unless you're a Packers and Ted Thompson hater who loves Dez Bryant and Michael Crabtree over WINNING!

Clearly in your mind the Bears aren't otherwise you would include them in the list from the first half. The Buccaneers, Chiefs and Raiders are all mediocre at best. Maybe you want to say the Giants are a powerhouse but their 12th in scoring offense and 21st in scoring defense. The teams they've played have a combined 22-42 record (20-36 in games not against the Giants). Yeah, their win against New England was impressive. I'm hard pressed though to think of another impressive game from them and I keep getting stuck on their pathetic displays against Seattle and Miami. I'd say the Saints, Bears and Falcons are all better teams than the Giants.

Frankly, our three hardest games remaining are against the Bears and the two against the Lions and we've already beaten Chicago once. I think it's unlikely we go 16-0 but our second half schedule is no where near as hard as people are making it out to be.

Even if the Packers go .500 the rest of the regular season, that's 12 - 4. Kind of cool?

Martha Careful (3h) : thank you Mucky for sticking up for me
Martha Careful (3h) : some of those people are smarter than you zero. However Pete Carroll is not
Mucky Tundra (6h) : Rude!

Zero2Cool (11h) : Raiders hired someone from the elderly home.
dfosterf (13h) : I'm going with a combination of the two.
beast (15h) : Either the Cowboys have no idea what they're doing, or they're targeting their former OC, currently the Eagles OC
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Fake news. Cowboys say no
Zero2Cool (23-Jan) : Mystery candidate in the Cowboys head coaching search believed to be Packers ST Coordinator Rich Bisaccia.
beast (23-Jan) : Also why do both NYC teams have absolutely horrible OL for over a decade?
beast (23-Jan) : I wonder why the Jets always hire defensive coaches to be head coach
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you
wpr (22-Jan) : Z, glad you are feeling better.
wpr (22-Jan) : My son and D-I-L work for UM. It's a way to pick on them.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (22-Jan) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (22-Jan) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (22-Jan) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
