It's looking like the big contract he signed in July will be worth it. He's 14 of 14 and tied for second in scoring among kickers. He's set new franchise records for consecutive field goals made as well as longest field goal made (58 yards). Well-done, Mason! This sure beats having to break in a new kicker when the team is trying to defend a championship.

Well I think this is going to jinx him just like the topic about receivers not having a dropped pass yet, but the next few games they had some drops.

But I'm certainly glad Crosby is playing good.

Greg C., I want to personally thank you for jinxing one Mason Crosby. I'm on my way to your house to slap you for the jinx, and thank you for the interesting topic of discussion.

Considering his accuracy was spotty over the past few years, this is a welcome trend. Hopefully he can keep it going.

He's definitely been earning his new contract so far. He and Mathsay are probably the best kicking dup we've seen since Bidwell and Longwell were on the team.

Either way, throw in a dangerous return man(Cobb of course), and this years special teams as a whole are the best in a very long time.

I'd argued over the past couple of seasons that two of the major reasons for Crosby's inconsistency were the lack of continuity at holder and the unusually high proportion of long kicks McCarthy was asking him to make. They have managed to give him some continuity at the holder position, and lo and behold, his consistency has skyrocketed on kicks at all distances. I also advocated that the Packers bring in Crosby's college position coach to work with him. That didn't happen, but it looks like it wasn't necessary either.

If Crosby can kick from 58 yards at the Metrodome, is there any doubt he could make 63 yards at Mile High?

Also, Crosby and Janikowski should have a kicking contest once.

Lastly, I think that this thread needs some Ironman.

Crosby's success has been amazing. High marks for consistency and distance. That said I tend to lean towards RainX approach when it comes to contract evaluation and use the term "so far" instead of Greg's all encompassing "his contract will be worth it". Who knows what happens in other seasons. It is nitpicking for sure.
