I just saw a snippet on our local 10 pm news.

The manager of Mike Shannon's a restaurant a block away from Busch Stadium said if the World Series goes a full 7 games it is possible the restaurant will see a 15-20% increase in its annual receipts.

That is a staggering number considering this will happen in a little over a week's time and there would only be 4 games played in St Louis. Of course there would still be a lot of patrons there watching the games that are going to be played in Texas.

But 1/5th of their gross receipts in a week is a lot of liquor.

Crap. Zero I thought I was still in Random Babble. Instead of having a blank post here can you move it please?

Increased demand (perhaps accented by "celebrity factor") also likely means higher price.

To average an extra 15 percent over 52 weeks from a change in just 3 weeks, that change in the 3 weeks would have to be (52*15)/3 = 260%.

Say the restaurant jacked up prices by 10 percent. Then the he'd need extra revenues for the three weeks of about 230%.
Revenue = price x quantity
3.6 x regular weekly revenue = (1.1*regular price) x [(1+x)*quantity], where x = percentage increase in quantity of sales.
x - 1 = (3.6/1.1) -1 = percentage increase in weekly sales during a 3 week series = 227%.

Assuming that Mike Shannon's in non-Series weeks has some empty tables/bar stools/standing-and-drinking room, it's possible.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Correct sir. Mike was a former player turned radio personality. He and his restaurant are very popular amongst fans. I have walked past it a hundred times. I was going to eat there once or twice but it was too crowded and the prices were more than I was willing to pay.

I love your formula. (I figure it is indeed possible. Staggering but possible.) Now boil that all down to a 7 day period. The manager said "if the series goes the full 7 games." I therefore assume he is not including the division series nor the championship series games so this is not over a 3 week time line.
Certainly there will be some increased sales during the off days that will augment the coffers but I doubt it will be as much as on gameday.

Edit- I realize that many retail operations get a huge influx of revenue/sales during the Christmas season. Very often 25-50% of their annual income comes from this time period. But that doesn't happen in a week to 10 day period like they were saying will happen at the restaurant. It happens over a minimum of 30 days to about 90 days. What is really shocking is that because Shannon is so popular and his place is so busy before and after the other 82 home games PLUS the fans who travel to St Louis on days when the team is out of town and decide to frequent his establishment it is not as if his restaurant sales are small.

Zero2Cool (9h) : Still HC positions available out there. I wonder if Hafley pops up for one
Zero2Cool (9h) : Trent Baalke is out as the Jaguars GM.
dfosterf (11h) : Jeff Hafley would have been a better choice, fortunately they don't know that. Someone will figure that out next off season
Zero2Cool (12h) : Aaron Glenn Planning To Take Jets HC Job
dfosterf (13h) : Martha- C'est mon boulot! 😁
Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you

Zero2Cool (13h) : Thank you. I rarely get sick, and even more rarely sick to the point I can't work.
wpr (13h) : Beast- back to yesterday, I CAN say OSU your have been Michigan IF the odds of making the playoffs were more urgent.
dfosterf (13h) : Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better.
Zero2Cool (14h) : I've been near death ill last several days, finally feel less dead and site issues.
Zero2Cool (14h) : It is a big deal. This host is having issues. It's frustrating.
Martha Careful (14h) : just kidding...it was down
Martha Careful (14h) : you were blocked yesterday, due to a a recalcitrant demeanor yesterday in the penalty box for a recalcitrant demeanor
dfosterf (14h) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : FG to make it academic
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : and there's the dagger
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooo 8 point game with 4 minutes to go!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ooooooooohhhhhh he missed!
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Ooooo that completion makes things VERY interesting
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Game not over yet
beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Even Stevie Wonder can see that.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : Nah, you see Lions OC leaving to be HC of Bears is directly related to Packers.
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : ohhhhhhh Zero is in TROUBLE
packerfanoutwest (21-Jan) : Zero, per your orders, check Bearshome, not packershome
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Then he'll land with another team and flourish.
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Ben going to Bears. He'll be out in 3 years.
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : what's so funny?
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Zero2Cool (20-Jan) : Bears are finalizing a deal to hire Ben Johnson as their head coach. (via @tompelissero )
Mucky Tundra (20-Jan) : Looks like Lions OC Ben Johnson is going to be the Bears coach
