Bengals trade Carson Palmer to Raiders

The Bengals have traded quarterback Carson Palmer to the Raiders for a first-round pick in 2012, and a conditional first-round pick in 2013.

The Raiders can take their time in selecting a GM, since they don't have hardly any picks in 2012, lol.

It was speculated this might happen. Hadn't the Raiders already traded away their 2nd through 4th round picks? So does that mean they only have 5th, 6th, and 7th picks in 2012? They are going to spend most of their three days napping.

They traded some picks away, plus lose their '12 selection they used on Terrelle (sp) Pryor. And now they lose their first rounder too.

Yes, they gave up a 3rd in the supplemental draft for Terrell Pryor. I wonder if this gives teeth to the speculations that Pryor will be used more as a receiver than quarterback.

I think that solidifies Pryor being used as WR (or maybe TE?). You don't give up potentially two first round picks for a guy you expect to ride the bench. I do think Palmer is better than Pryor, now and with potential.

The real question here is ... what does Carson Palmer offer to Shane Lechler??

Jason Campbell = 4th Round Pick 2012
Terrell Pryor = 3rd Round Pick 2012
Carson Palmer = 1st Round Pick 2012 (2nd in '13 or 1st)

They could have saved those picks and just sucked for Luck.

Last year Carson Palmer's statistics weren't bad, but they weren't exceptional either. He threw for 3970 yards (6.8 yards per attempt, 61.8% completion percentage), 26 touchdowns, and 20 interceptions. It will be interesting to see how fast he can get on the field and how much he can elevate the Raiders when he does.
