Sounds like Chad won't be back  for a few weeks.

I said last night in the chat room that I hoped they would just IR Clifton, since he probably wouldn't be back for at last four weeks. I'd rather they bring in someone who can contribute immediately if called upon, even if not to Clifton's level when fully healthy, than leave a spot occupied by a guy who will be on the bench for a protracted period and may simply reinjure himself once he returns.

Yes, Aaron Rodgers can make most would-be sackers look like fools, but why take the chance?

My feelings are mixed about whether to move on without him this season. He was getting close to the end of his serviceable playing days already. This doesn't help.

IF they find one they think can do a Bruce WIlkerson, my guess is that Clifton or some other injured person then goes on IR; but until they do, or unless Bulaga ends up being out a lot longer, or they otherwise need the spot for another injury, he will stay on the 53.

Oh, and by the way, this is exactly why I rant "OL OL OL" so much every offseason. Two or more serious injuries on an OL in a season is more likely than 0 or 1. And the more there are, the bigger the risk to the franchise (Rodgers).

If I were zombieslayer, I'd be worrying about his bet a bit more than I was 24 hours ago.

I just don't understand the whole musical chairs fascination. I understand that the Packers thrive on having interchangeable bodies and having flexibility due to versatility, but offensive line really isn't a position to be messing around with -- not when you have the best QB in the NFL.

I was under the impression that Derek Sherrod was supposed to be lining up at LT with Newhouse lining up at RT in place of Bulaga. Granted, Sherrod is very green and raw, but if LT is his natural position, he might as well grow into it.

Then again, it may be experience, I don't know. Either way, having offensive linemen switch around all the time may be beneficial for their own development as football players, but it doesn't cater to anybody's specialty, nor is it wise when you have a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers.

And no, Cliffy need not go on IR, especially if he can be back after the BYE. Cliffy is still our best OT for pass protection, and passing is still the heart of this team.

What I'm worried about with Clif is that I've heard this is a "significant" injury. He's old and will heal slower than a young fella. I'm wondering if Clifton at 80% is better than Newhouse at 100%.

It may take another surgery but Clifton will be back. He always is.

He may be in a wheelchair at age 55, but right now he will come back.

He has had so many surgeries and sacrificed his body for the Packers. I wish him well.

Look at it this way. The Packers have a seeming glut of eligible receivers on their roster. Last night alone, Rodgers threw to 12 different receivers. Prior to this season, a lot of people were questioning the utility of keeping 5 tight ends. Now we are starting to see the benefits of this tactic. However, if the Packers keep Clifton on the 53 and another offensive lineman goes out with injury, the Packers will probably be forced to cut one of their plethora of receivers in order to clear roster space for a practice squad promotion or a free agent acquisition. Which one of those potential pass catchers do you want to see cut? Every single one of the 5 WRs has multiple catches (unlike previous years, when our #5 WR rarely set foot on the field. Every single one of our RBs has at least one catch. All of our TEs except Andrew Quarless (oddly enough) and Ryan Taylor have at least one catch. And of course, our FB has multiple catches, including 2 TDs, this season.

So who goes?
