I think Clay, and others, saying that they aren’t playing as well as they should be is just guys towing the company line. That said, I’m glad McCarthy is focusing on getting the team better each week, and I’m glad the players are buying in. I can’t count how many times I heard guys talking about “adversity” after yesterday’s game. This comes straight from McCarthy, and the fact that the players are repeating it shows how deeply his football philosophy has become a part of the Green Bay Packers.
As far as whether the Packers are in a lull. The first two drives by the Falcons were not pretty to watch as a Packer fan. But after that, there was no lull to speak of. In the Falcons’ first two possessions they rolled up 140 yards of offense. For the final 40 minutes of the game the defense only allowed 110 yards,
according to Seifert . I can’t find it again, now, but I read this morning that after those first two possessions by the Falcons, Ryan’s QB rating dropped to something around 18. Ouch. 25 unanswered points is an outstanding stat for the offense and the defense.
