I wonder what the plan of succession is. Does this mean the team will be sold after this season, or is the infrastructure solid enough to keep the current administration more or less in place going forward?

I found out when I got off the airplane in Toronto.

Al will have God's job by Christmas.

I don't think God's worried.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Seriously.

I So appreciate that the people on this site did not bash the man.

Al's passing has really hit me hard. Perhaps I am getting old, but I associate him with so many great memories. I am a Packer fan because of Vince, because I read the history of Vince. However I have been a fan Al as well, since I can not remember. Every memory I have of the Raiders has Al's face stamped on it.

I read some horrible posts on many sites about how this is the best thing that could happen to the Raiders. I have read some real evil shit, about a man who I look up to.

Regardless of how dysfunctional he was in the last 10 years. I miss him already.

I'm enjoying hearing and reading things about Al Davis and learning of the impact he had. Truly a great man and like most have said, hopefully he's not judged by his last ten years because his legacy was solidified far before then.

Apparently, the Raiders will stay in the family, with Al's wife Carol and son Marc retaining controlling interest. Marc will not be involved in personnel decisions, however, as he is too tenderhearted. He told his father he could never understand how he was able to let people go.

Al and Carol had been married since 1954. By all accounts he was totally devoted to her. When she had a severe heart attack 25 years ago, he moved into her hospital room to be at her side for the better part of a month. It is said that whenever he knew a family member or friend was ill, Al Davis would do whatever it took to ensure that person got the best healthcare possible.

Martha Careful (9h) : I would have otherwise admirably served
dfosterf (11h) : Also, no more provision for a write-in candidate, so Martha is off the table at least for this year
dfosterf (11h) : You do have to interpret the boring fine print, but all stockholders all see he is on the ballot
dfosterf (11h) : It also says he is subject to another ballot in 2028. I recall nothing of this nature with Murphy
