Zero - Exceptions to every generalization. That said, I stand by saying your generation sucks. They'd rather play videogames than learn about female anatomy. WTH?

I actually feel bad for your generation. Way more stress than we had. You're inheriting a country that our generation and the generations before really screwed up.

So I'm not blaming your generation. We messed you guys up.

Generation Y, Echo Boomers and Millennials is apparently my generation.

My generation isn't even running the country, not sure how we're getting the fault for that. It's the dimwits in their 40's and older that are in office, making illogical laws to be politically correct. No one my age that I know is happy about it. Too many restrictions and not enough freedom in our own "free" country.

Look at the issues today ... it's not because of Generation Y, it's because of the Generation preceding Y. I mean for christs sake the President of the United States of America felt the need issue a public "apology" of sorts to the Bears and/or Jay Cutler because he JOKED about the Packers trading Aaron Rodgers to the Bears.

That there is a perfect example on a small scale of one of several issues with this country. We do NOT have any balls!!

Edit, although, I am guilty of one thing. Between 13-16 I was more into playing sports and video games then girls. Once I hit 16, not a whole helluva lot got my attention other than a wet pink spot and knockers with pouty lips. I have the kids to prove it.

But I have to say I'm REALLY skeptical about the "downturn in life expectancy" claim. Obese or not, our general health today is FAR BETTER than it was for previous generations.

The rise in Type II diabetes is huge -- again, I am a poster child for the phenomenon (though my A1C yesterday was down again, from 6.6 in December to 6.0 in March to 5.8 yesterday). But there are so many determinants of life expectancy that the notion that one disease is going to knock several months off the population average just strikes me as implausible.

And unlikely. Chronic disease GENERALLY isn't the biggest determinant of average life expectancy and hasn't been for the last 2 centuries at least. The big determinant is early childhood nutrition. And junk food and fast food notwithstanding, early childhood nutrition today is well ahead of where it was even 20 years ago.

The problem isn't that today's generation is going to die earlier. The problem is that they are going to have to care for more people who aren't going to be dying until later. I.e., my generation.

It's not their obesity and diabetes supply expense that is going to really screw them. It's all the geriatric care they're going to have to figure out how to provide. Either that or deal with far more geezer panhandlers.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Zero - Did you read my entire post? I blame MY generation for creating Generation O. And yes, you are Y, not O. So this doesn't apply to you at all. It applies to my son's generation.

Wade - Heh. Uh oh, another can of worms - Social Security. Yes, people are living too long. :-"

Generation suckage belongs to the boomers. You know that generation that inherited the peak of American civilization and has sucked the fucking life out of this country. They are the people about to continue sucking the life of the country away as they receive their SS and pension benefits but are voting to cut off the benefits when it's Gen X & Y's turn.

Yeah, the good ole baby boomers. They should just all stand up and take some responsibility for fucking it all up, Losers.

Ron Jeremy, say.
