So our "servicable" OLBs aren't getting the job done and the loss of Jenkins' pressure from the DE position has totally gotten this defensive pass rush out of balance?...
I'll be gloating over my team's misery over here in the basement, because being an arrogant know-it-all is more important to me than our record, quite honestly.
But no, it's the one point I've been hammering on over and over. Actually, it's about the only thing I can be bothered making a Packers related post about. Opposite of Clay, there's pretty much nothing. And Clay himself is actually a tad bit overrated, but that's a completely different story.
Pickett's not getting any younger or faster, Green had a fluke stretch last year and hasn't been more than a journeyman NT except for that, Wynn and Wilson are average and rotational players at best, Neal is injured and Raji can't do it all by himself.
When your 3 man front can't get the job done, it makes the OLB's job to get to the QB pretty close to impossible.
When your 2nd OLB wouldn't be a starter on most 3-4 teams, combined with an average 3 man front, you're pretty much not going to get any consistent pressure at all.
And then, if you have DeMarcus Ware or Tamba Hali, you can cover stuff like that up. So can we to a certain extend, with Matthews, but just from a pure pass rushing standpoint, he's no Ware or Hali.
Oh, and on Zombo getting back. Yay.
I'm more interested in seeing if So'oto can potentially spark anything or maybe even if Lattimore can add some quickness to our pass rush.
