The White Athlete thread drew out a question or a tangent if you will that struck me as odd.. how much influence does sex have upon your life.

Does it dictate life decisions (where you live, your profession, your overall health, etc.) you make?

Where does it rank in your priorities overall.

So I thought.. why not create a simple straw poll that would place it against another life passion of sorts.. sports.

Which controls aspects of your life more.. sex or sports.

Sports is why times between sex is longer. Women are totally evil.

I'm not controlled by either - i just choose to indulge in them.

It is simple for me.. sports influences my life far greater than sex itself.

Family.. well sports takes a back seat, but not to sex itself.

Family
Religion
Friends
Financial considerations

as examples all rank above sports for me.. so that kind of explains where I place the influence of sex itself.

Sports - I'd prefer living in Wisconsin to get Packers games how they should be, free.
Profession - I feel I'm skilled enough in several trades that I can find employment in most areas.
Health - I'm in good health.

What's best for my daughter ranks highest on my decision making. The last couple years I've been told I need to lighten up in that regard. I'm told I can go out, have fun, date around, etc ... and still be a good date. And in fact that I need to do those things. I disagree. I don't want to lose sight of my primary task and that's raising the best daughter I can and being the best role model for the girls I am a father figure to.

I do like working out and one reason is sex. I don't work out to get laid, but I'd be lying if I said one of my motivating factors while doing cardio wasn't to increase sexual stamina. I like being able to pick up my girl and have my way standing up or against the wall. I don't want to struggle or shake while holding her. We all know the first words will be "what, am I fat?".

When I was a teenager, I struggled to make my car payments. Having a convertible "sports" car was a massive chick magnet so even though I could have sold it sooner, I didn't because of the girls I was getting.

I don't know if this answered your question, its best I could throw up.

Edit, seen your answer after I submitting mine. Sports influences my life more than Sex. I keep Sunday's open for NFL. In my last relationship, I was lucky if I was able to get it two or three times a week. One of the days happen to be a Monday night when the Packers were playing. I knew if I went to bed at 9pm, I'd be lucky. I knew the chances were slim if I went to bed 11pm because she'd be sleeping. I took my chances. I'm guessing that means Sports is more important than Sex?

Interesting concept for a thread. "an addition of one"* to Shawn for starting it.

Okay, honesty compels me to admit that I think of each of them, ahem, a couple times a day. Cough, cough.

But I can't say either one influences me much at all anymore. Sports I suppose a little more, since at least in football season I do try to keep Sunday afternoons free for the game. But even there the level of influence is pretty soft -- unless it's a compelling game, I'm liable to spend time chatting about random babble, reading, doing work, etc.

*I refuse to use the s-word.

UWGB had some good majors, but as far as a business school it didn't particularly rank high. I avoided UW and most of the other affiliates because they all had a football program and it would have eaten away at my soul always asking what if.

After working around the country (well before Sunday Ticket and MLBTV) I hated not being able to watch my teams and being subjected the programming of the networks or having to seek out a bar to catch the game.. or installing the old gigantic dishes every couple of months.. so I made a decision to move back to Wisconsin with a great deal of consideration to sports. Still single at the time.

I have always planned my weekly schedule around sports.. football.. baseball.. if something else important conflicted.. sports took a back seat.

But I have never done any of that for sex. But that doesn't mean I didn't get any or had a reserved sex life.. it just meant that it was more of a natural event that just took place. Never seems to have a problem fulfilling that need or desire.. but I definitely didn't make life choices to obtain more of it or what not.

If I went out to the club... and I happened to strike up an interest.. and it was mutual.. great. If I met someone in the grocery store or at work.. which was more of the norm than a club or a party.. and it led to a relationship or knocking boots.. awesome. But then again.. it was more of a dessert or extra bonus in life than a priority in life.

I think it came down to the harsh reality that I wasn't good enough for professional football and no matter how hard I tried, I would never be. I had to accept that after my final football injury at the age of 24, trying to make it on a semi-pro level.

So came acceptance.

And with that, sex started becoming more and more important and sports became a lot less important.
