First off, thank you Raider Pride. I read that whole thing.
Second, she wasn't supposed to be tolerable at first. A good movie has the protagonist grow and learn in the movie. She was a hard ass and seeing how she had a life of privilege, she decided to give back and that's what made her a more interesting character in this specific case.
Funny thing, you might want to read that link RP provided. You get to hear the truth instead of Hollywood's rendition of it. The girl played a much larger role in Oher's life than she did in the movie. So did the father. So did Kathy Bates's character.
