I was curious just how many of you sit around pondering on this morbid topic?

I bet there are 31 teams that would trade rosters with us in a heartbeat.

I'm pretty much only worried about LT. The rest of the starting OL looks pretty good to me but I'm not sure Clifton will hold out and Sherrod doesn't look ready.

I agree. If I had to pick a spot that I was worried about, it'd be LT. Or the mirror of that spot, DE. If Neal ends up getting hurt then we're going to Wynn, and if he gets hurt then we're running pretty thin on that spot, not to mention that we don't have a ROLB that has fully proven himself to be the starter in Walden, Zombo, you name it. I believe however that Ted Thompson has a plan in store for any contingency. That said, we're going to be just fine.

I will continue to say the OL as Aaron Rodgers is our most precious asset. With our rich talent at WR/TE I would have been happy to sign and trade Jones or Jordy Nelson for a versatile lineman who would start at guard, but have the ability to back-up the tackle positions. Whether or not there would be a trade partner who is willing to trade O-line help for WR is another matter.

I guess I am sick of all the talk about how good Manning, Brady, and Brees are when they have had so much better protection than Rodgers. If Rodgers had the time to sit in the pocket like Brady he would challenge for single season stat records for yards and td passes in my opinion.

QB because if the Packers lose their starter, they are finished. Therefore, it's the weakest position.

It's hard to get a read on a QB in only 1-2 games. There's a huge difference between getting by 1-2 games and having to play every week. My guess is it would cost us a 2-3 games which would be the difference between 12-13 wins and 9-11 wins. In this vein I believe Newhouse could be respectable for 2 or 3 games if Cliffy got dinged. More than that it's hard to say. He could get better with reps or he could have weaknesses exposed.

I think it is quite evident on paper, IMO, that the offensive line is the weakest overall.

Five starters and Newhouse have my confidence.. beyond that, throw a blanket over them and hope until one steps up.

I still cringe over keeping just 8 or not bolstering it somehow through trade.

IMO.. just as last season, Flynn can be put into a position to give the team a shot to win via play calling and the talent around him.

Have Clifton go down and most of the game planning is in peril if Newhouse or Sherrod can't step in.. and tackle is the deepest spot on this roster within the offensive line.. have a injury or two inside and we really are swimming.

The DL.. having three big bodies than can play up and down the line helps a ton.. that and Dom and his unique play calling strategies combined with depth at linebacker lessens the critical nature if we have an injury or two.

We just don't have much flexibility upon the line.

dfosterf (16-Apr) : Trade, cut or keep
dfosterf (16-Apr) : that from Jaire
dfosterf (16-Apr) : My guess is the Packers floated the concept of a reworked contract via his agent and agent got a f'
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Yes, and that is why I think Rob worded it how he did. Rather than say "agent"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Same laws apply. Agent must present such an offer to Jaire. Cannot accept or reject without presenting it
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : I'm thinking that is why Rob worded it how he did.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The Packers can certainly still make the offer to the agent
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Laws of agency and definition of fiduciary responsibility
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Jaire is open to a reduced contract without Jaire's permission
dfosterf (16-Apr) : The agent would arguably violate the law if he were to tell the Packers
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : That someone ... likely the agent.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : So, Jaire has not been offered nor rejected a pay reduction, but someone says he'd decline.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovksy says t was direct communication with someone familiar with Jaire’s line of thinking at that moment.
Zero2Cool (16-Apr) : Demovsky just replied to me a bit ago. Jaire hasn't said it.
dfosterf (16-Apr) : Of course, that depends on the definition of "we"
dfosterf (16-Apr) : We have been told that they haven't because he wouldn't accept it. I submit we don't know that
dfosterf (16-Apr) : What is the downside in making a calculated reduced offer to Jaire?
Zero2Cool (15-Apr) : Packers are receiving interest in Jaire Alexander but a trade is not imminent
