He was just released by the Jags...why don't we bring him in as a backup and try to trade Matt Flynn?

easy money, on a championship caliber team. just my thoughts. I think Matt Flynn will be offered a contract extension, and he will sign it. i don't think he'll stay in GB forever as a backup, but I think Ted Thompson can convince Matt to stay in GB for a few more years.

A related question is what happens if someone tries to sign Graham Harrell off the practice squad. I think the Packers would then have the right to put him on their 53-player roster to protect him, wouldn't they? If that happened, would they then try to trade Flynn?

Nobody will give up fair compensation for Flynn. He's going to be a free agent this offsesaon and he's not going to learn a new system during the season. In the end, the Packers probably don't get enough to warrant dealing him. That ship has sailed.

You get more money & recognition as a starter.

I'd love to see 🇹🇹 sign Matt Flynn for a few more years. I agree with you that Flynn > Garrard. But I won't hold my breath.

I hope you're right.

Winning a Super Bowl as a backup QB is an unsatisfying experience for guys like this, and it ought to be. Flynn is as good as gone next year if any team is willing to give him a chance to compete for a starting position.

I think some of us are exaggerating the talents of Matt Flynn. He had one good game against one team. He didn't look good in preseason. If he's not extended during the season, after he's not offered a starting job elsewhere in '12, he'll most likely be signing back with the Packers to back Aaron Rodgers up.

David Garrard, not a chance.

Is Gerrard familiar with the WCO?
Anyway Ted doesn't like aging veterans.
