Finally.. one of the fraternity of NFL QB's sets the record straight.. they are just another player with or without a supporting cast. It is the team around them that truly dictates just how good their career becomes.. you can be an ultra talented QB stuck on a poor squad and look average. Or you can be above average on a great club and be viewed as great.

That is all I have ever said about the position, they are rewarded or blamed way too much in terms of how the team does. It especially irks me when they are overtly praised for succeeding in an environment built to succeed.

Irony is.. Aikman was one of those that I thought and think garnered way to much praise for his role upon that team.

But Fox’s Troy Aikman  reminds us neither Brees nor Rodgers would be where they are without superior teammates, first-rate coaching and in settled organizations skilled at developing players.

"Sometimes I think we put too much of an emphasis on the quarterback himself, what he has or doesn’t have, as opposed to maybe what’s around him," Aikman said. "I can speak from my own experience. There are a lot of things that could have happened to me both while I was in Dallas or if I had gone to another team that would have dramatically changed the outcome or the course of my career.

Oh.. and there are a couple of comments about Rodgers and Brees.. but that was lost upon me with Aikman laying the truth out there. Way to much is made of the QB position itself.

Don't mistake that for me saying there is no difference in talent amongst QB's and that there are not special players that come along.. my main and long lasting view is that there are more candy asses at QB that get over hyped and babied than QB's that are truly special players at the position and can elevate any team solely with their talents.

What. Ever! Aaron Rodgers said that no QB has won a game, it's a team effort. He said it first. Why not mention that? Yeah, because you're just a big ole QB hating machine!!!

It doesn't mean I won't mark any items he may say or do that I don't agree with, but as a whole I enjoy him as a player and am refreshed by the attitude and more importantly personality he holds.

I am on board as much as I will with a QB.. sorry it is just a product of experience. Football camps for the most part around the midwest.. the rest of us could knock heads snap after snap and those little candy asses would just smile and hide behind that red "don't touch me" jersey.

Lord I hated that.. and I did get a lecture or two upon it at a number of different camps.. if they took off running to me.. fair game.

I miss that feeling.. the crunch of sticking someone with a shoulder and dropping them. The trace of fear in their eyes when you turn the corner and they have no where to hide.. yeah.. it is like that.

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : If the exploit is not fixed, we'll see tons of "50 top free agents, 50 perfect NFL team fits: We picked where each should sign in March" lo

Zero2Cool (18-Feb) : It should be halted now.
