It would be tragic for 73 not to be retired before 4.

I was going to say Aaron Taylor originally, but I couldn't remember if he was 72 or 73.

lol I guess I kind of derailed this one a bit huh?

Donald Driver shouldn't have his number retired. Packers Hall of Fame, most definitely.

Some years back the NFL had directive that NFL teams consider not retiring jersey numbers. Because in the future, there might be shortage of number in various position players in NFL. The NFL doesn't ever want triple digit numbers used for NFL players.

The Packers have not abused retiring of player numbers in the 90 years the franchise has been in the NFL. Only 5 numbers have been retired since 1921. The Packers have two numbers which are ca lled inactive. They are not being used. The numbers are 5 - Paul Hornung and number 1 which which was used by by Earl "Curly" Lambeau during his playing days, as half back for the Packers. Curly played in the NFL from 1921-1929. Also "Curly" Lambeau was the co founder of Packers , as well as head Coach and General manager from 1921 to 1949. He is member of Pro Football Hall of Fame and Packer Hall of Fame. Curly Lambeau also owned the Packer franchise for one year in 1922.

The Packers have plans in the future to retire the number 4.

This weekend I got to thinking about the total yards record Driver will set this year. He and James Lofton wore # 80. Do you think the Packers will consider retiring the number based on a HOF and a Packer's HOF wearing the number?
I know they have to be careful when they consider retiring a number as there are onl so many numbers at a position.

As of now only 5 numbers have been retired.
3 Tony Canadeo
14 Don Hutson
15 Bart Starr
66 Ray Nitschke
92 Reggie White
4 will get the nod in a few years.

My guess is that they will not.

Mucky Tundra (5-Jan) : Thst line seems...generous

Mucky Tundra (4-Jan) : Stinks for Lloyd. Hoping he comes back strong for next year
