As I watched Flynn play tonight, I was trying to think of where he'd be going if he signed with someone else. I don't think the market is too hot. Most teams that needed QB's drafted their guys this year (Carolina, Tennessee, San Fran, Minn) so signing a young gun in Flynn probably isn't in their plans. Teams to watch include perhaps Miami and Buffalo (where he can light up the Pats twice a year) MAYBE Washington or Oakland depending on how their QB's play this year? What do you think? Will we retain Flynn's services for another year or two?

You have to throw deep to QB the Raiders.
How'd we look tonight? Didn't get to see anything yet. Stuck at church.

There will always be a market for young QBs. Next year there will be at least 3 times that will be interested in him.
Nerdmann I thought he looked fine for the first preseason game. Nothing flashy. Just a solid game. Especially when you factor in the fact that he did not have the top receivers in his formations every play. I think Jody made a couple of catches for him.

Doubtful. Some team who needs a QB is going to throw money at him and he's going to want to go to a team where he can compete for a starting job. Ideally you would have traded him this offseason, but the lock-out prevented that. Packers will just have to ride him as a backup this year and then go out and find a new backup next year.

I don't think Thompson wanted to trade him, he hinted a couple of times that he'd like to keep Flynn. As of right now I don't see a huge market for Flynn. Sure some teams will welcome him but I don't think they'll be offering good starter money. It's like most Packers fans thought WR Jones would get some large offers but didn't seem to happen for what ever reason and he's back.

I think Flynn could be gone because he wants a chance to start. But I don't think he's price tag will be out of Thompson ballpark for paying a good back-up QB (as of right now). If he gets some playing time and shows up huge this could be a different story.

I see Flynn as a solid starter in 2013... A very solid starter.

Great post Beaster.

i say hold on to him, but with mm and lots of others saying he will be a starter soon, his agent is gonna demand lots of $$$ , these days its not easy coming up with that for a 2nd string guy !!

Matt Flynn will be at best a good decent QB in this league but he will never be in the top 10 IMO. I just don't see enough potential for him to take another huge step and become an elite QB. IMO, Flynn = same category as Orton ... Can play but always is in question or controversy surrounding his play / competition. Honestly, if I'm GM around the league I wouldn't mind signing Flynn for a good 5-7 years contract & in the 3rd - 4th year drafting an explosive QB and grooming him into an elite QB for the future of the franchise.

Am I the only that sees Flynn as a backup plan for any franchise even if his the starting QB on Sunday?

That's just my opinion, all tho I hope everything works out with him and that we do keep him for one more year so just in case A-Rod goes down, we've got a legit starter.

Is Flynn one of the best 32 QBs in the NFL? I'm not sure he is.

Is he better than what Seattle, San Fran, and Miami currently have? Yes.

The bottom-line is that he is an above average player playing the most important position in the game. He will get a better offer/better opportunity somewhere else next offseason. Just enjoy him, and hope we get a decent comp pick out of him.
