i think they take the 2 headed monster approach, it keeps both guys fresh and possibly injury free !!

The great thing is that Ted has competition almost everywhere on the roster.

McCarthy's staff has done a lot to train the young guys.

Roster spots are earned.

The best players play.

If pay exceeds production players are cut.

Fans benefit the most.

Whoever wins this camp battle and is starting will have earned it the old fashioned way.

I don't care anymore who starts and I am not taking sides.

I have faith and trust in those running the team.

Saying, "James Starks COULD be this year's breakout star", is like saying, "It might be cold in Green Bay this winter." Or, "there's a possibility the Vikings will be a horrible team this year."

Don't care what the numbers say, to me Starks is faster. Not just quicker and shiftier either. Both can get it done, though.
I'm getting sick of people talking about how Starks is "injury prone." It's the same bullshit they used to say about Rodgers, because he broke his foot that time, then pulled a hammy another time.

He (like Jermichael Finley) needs to string a full season, no injuries and people will stop using 'injury' in the same sentence as James Starks.

Starks is more explosive with his runs then Grant. For some reason I feel like Starks can find that extra hole and get the extra yard, therefore we've seen on so many occasions Grant slams into a wall.

All tho I love the fact that we got 2 RB can pound the ball. This year the offense will be more explosive, Grant + Finley ... what are the opposing defenses going to do?

I really wonder if Starks running so well in the playoffs had anything to do with the opposing teams fearing the pass and being tired from a 16 game season? Then here comes a guy that didn't play much until the end and he has the fresh legs to make him look faster.

Just some thoughts to Ponder.
Just Imagine this for the next 6-9 years. What a ride it will be 🙂 (PS, Zero should charge for this)

Also, in the Super Bowl, both teams had a full week of rest before playing again.

Just some thoughts to ponder. (notice I did not capitalize ponder as if were a certain Vikings QB name.)

Ryan Grant

It's always nice when someone shoots their mouth off without checking the facts.

One more thing I've noticed about Starks - he doesn't have that afterburner that Grant has. Grant in the open field is gone. Like Gregorious. 40 times aren't the end all be all stat of football speed. Football speed can be deceptive. It's like Jerry Rice, arguably the best NFL player of our lifetime, didn't have a smoking fast 40 speed.

I do like both Grant and Starks, but for different reasons. Starks is more likely to have a consistent 4 or 5 yard run. Grant is more likely to break the big one.

And Hazer is correct about teams fearing our passing game so much that running for us was somewhat easier than other teams, especially later on in the year when it became apparent to opposing DCs that Aaron Rodgers may be the best QB in the NFL hands down.

40 times are fairly useless, I agree and just noticed you said James Starks doesn't have the after burner speed that Ryan Grant does. Read what I said above about the sample. We haven't seen James Starks get chased down from behind, yet. The times we've seen Ryan Grant were when the box was loaded and he burst through. Obviously when players are running towards you and you're going full speed the other direction, you shouldn't get caught, lol.

And to your last point, I say again, back to the not enough tape on James Starks to make such a statement, but with the sample we have, I don't believe I can disagree with that.

Of course, James Starks can prove he has the extra gear, I just don't believe he's given us anything to make a knowledgeable assessment on it yet that he doesn't have it.

Zero - Good point.

I hope you're right. I hope the sample size is too small and in 2011, we see the after burner speed in Starks that Grant has already proven he has.
