I remember reading about how Randy Moss was in really good shape. Kind of surprised he retires now. Although, as someone else mentioned, a guy who spent two years in prison appeared to have been in a bigger demand than he was. That couldn't help the ego much.

Some of me, based on his performance and lack of drive last season, wants to believe that Moss has really retired.

In place.. I have to believe that he will be back when some team that has a winning record comes calling with a need at WR this season.

I don't think it is a coincidence that when Moss is on a winning team he performs well.. but when on teams that are not winning.. you get the Moss that isn't plugged in and well performs miserably. Basically if the team has a shot at the Superbowl.. I think he is game... when not.. he is not.

Randy plays when Randy wants to play..

I think it kind of sucks on how his lack of motivation kills him. I think he could have been one of the greatest right there with Jerry Rice if he had the drive.

I still think he's one of the greatest deep threats to have ever played the game, when he wanted to.

He was the best of the game when he was playing hard and certainly could have been thought of as one of the best receivers ever. Just goes to show you how big of a difference attitude makes.

Actually it is not a bad strategy the more I think about it.. he hasn't gotten the offer from the teams he wants to go to.. leaking it that he only wants to play for a contender.

So depending on his list of contenders, his market may be closed in his eyes.

By taking this step.. he is making it know that if you are a contender now or as the season rolls on, call.. if not.. don't bother.. also step up with a contract I deem acceptable.

Selfish.. self centered.. and not conductive to marrying him for multiple years.. but if you need a receiver this season, have a shot at winning it all... why not take the risk.

All this an Randy gets to skip training camp.. apparently a vogue thing these days.

(His first year in Oakland was actually quite good--1,005 yards receiving and 8 TDs.) Last year was only his second bad season out of 13.

I think he is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Here's a link to his career stats:

Hard to see a team like Baltimore not being a fit where they are a contender which is a key for Moss, have veteran leadership to keep Randy in check, and Randy could be a #1 or #2 WR for Flacco. Of all the contending teams they look like they need to most amount of help with their receiving game.
