FIRST QUARTER
-First play from scrimmage, Arodge draws the defense offsides for a free play. This is something Arodge has added to his repetoire this year. PROBLEM: Arodge was very nearly intercepted when Quarless didn't even TRY to make a play on the ball. It's like he expected a whistle to stop they play or something. Rookie mistake. Not good.
-This first drive consisted of two nice runs by Jackson and a beautiful long TD to DD.
-12:29 Great sack by Raji vs max protect.
-10:02 Burnett comes up and makes a great hit, but it was overturned by a penalty against Detroit. People say the rap on Burnett is that he doesn't come up for run support. He sure did on this play. Detroit had alot of penalties in this game. They outplayed us in every facet except turnovers and points.
-6:59 WR fell down and Hawk intercepted it. Right in his gut. Another example of that shitty fieldturf. Fortunately in this instance, it wasn't one of our guys falling down.
-5:45 Arodge wastes a timeout to prevent delay of game.
-3:29 Masthay shanks a punt for 12 yards.

SECOND QUARTER
-11:39 Best fumbles, Pickett recovers. Neal had penetration on the play.
-Burnett injures his knee. I think Derrick Martin relieved him. Martin was later waived injured iirc. Peprah was a solid backup down the stretch.
-6:53 Hilarious free play to DD. Rodgers spun around 180 degrees avoiding the rush and rainbowed to DD for 50 yards. This was followed by a TD to Jennings on the next play. Arodge, once again drawing the defense offsides for a free play.
-5:30 Clay with a sack. Bush was blitzing and the QB had to step up to avoid pressure. BAM! Clay was right there.
-3:00 Hawk slipped on the fieldturf enabling Shawn Hill to hit Best in the flat for 20 yards.
-:08 Calvin Johnson with the TD right before the half, bringing the score to 14-21. Burnett got turned around in the end zone. The Lions were playing well, but we were beating them with turnovers.
-:02 Ensuing kickoff, Nelson seemed to be a bit lacksadaisical in picking the ball up and ends up fumbling it. Lions miss a 55 yard FG attempt, short to end the half.

THIRD QUARTER
-14:52 Woody interference. He had a few this game.
-14:47 Collins drops an INT right in his hands.
-TOP stats are shown. Detroit is leading in Time of Possession by a rough margin of 19 minutes and change to 10, as of the first half.
-14:35 Woody pick six. This is the one where he went down the sideline and dove into the end zone. Classic highlight. They were coming close to getting that ball a number of times. And they actually did get a few of them.
-9:36 Detroit drives all the way down the field, and Bush very narrowly misses an INT in the flat.
-6:04 Arodge intercepted on the 6. He was throwing one of of those balls where he was just throwing it up for grabs and letting the WR make a play on the ball. Rodgers was trying that earlier in the year. I didn't like it at all. Two plays previously to this, Rodgers had thrown another "jump ball" that was intercepted, it looked like the same play. But it was called back by a penalty. The first one was to Nelson, this one was to Jennings.
-3:12 Shawn Hill scrambles for 30 yards.
-:47 Rodgers is sacked by a really good inside rush from Suh.

FOURTH QUARTER
-13:30 Detroit FG to make it 23-28. Jordy fumbles the ensuing kickoff.
-11:35 Another "jump ball" to Jennings intercepted. Looked like the defender just timed his jump perfectly and took it away.
-Detroit gets a FG to pull the score to 26-28. Big defensive stand there.
-At this time stats are shown to the effect that Detroit leads time of possession by 34:15-15:54. They had outgained us in yards by 408-188. We were beating them based on turnovers and penalties.
-6:43 Diving deflection by Woody to prevent a first down completion in FG range. Defense came up huge in this game.
-3:39 Rodgers scrambled 15 yards for a first down.
-Game is sealed with a clock eating power running drive featuring John Kuhn. On that last first down, he dove over a player and got the yardage, enabling us to take "victory formation." How does he do it? LOL. He runs north south, that's how. In fact on some of those plays, it looked like he had some really nice lanes. He was able to actually SEE them and hit them.

A tough gritty win over an up and coming Detroit team. They fought hard and showed they were arguably the better team. They pulled off a close loss against the future Superbowl champs, with their starting QB on the sideline. Definitely a team to keep an eye on for the forseeable future.

Even though they won, it was a disappointing game. After that sloppy loss to the Bears, I thought they would bounce back strong, but they didn't. Obviously the Lions are not the pushover they used to be. One thing I remember is that Shawn Hill played really well. I was not expecting a performance like that from their backup QB. But at least the defense held at the end and the O-line and John Kuhn put it away.

If the Packers field is so bad why do the players like it so much?

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Ed Policy yay or nay is on the pre-approved ballot that we always approve because we are uninformed and lazy, along with all the rest
dfosterf (25-Jun) : Weird question. Very esoteric. For stockholders. Also lengthy. Sorry. Offseason.
