Burnett's a ball hawk. Remember that INT he made, coming up into the backfield? That was awesome. Forget which game.

I thought he looked OK for a rookie who was still learning the system and his role. I thought that he would improve significantly throughout the season. Hopefully we will find out this season.

I'd go with a defensive player like Neal, Burnett, or even Shields (though he already kinda made a "splash").

The only thing I know about Mike Neal is what he talks about on Twitter and the guy is ready to play. He is a beast and is in incredible shape. I'll hold judgement on filling Jenkins' shoes, but I think it could be done.

When Morgan Burnett did play last year, he showed glimpses of great play for a rookie. I expect him to continue improving, especially with the amazing secondary he is surrounded by.

Sam Shields played amazing last year already. With his speed and man coverage ability, I think it will allow Capers to throw around some more crazy defensive looks. Like Burnett, he is surrounded by secondary talent which will only help him more.

Neal is another guy who looked VERY good in limited action. I'm confident with him. I just wish we had more depth at the position.

But my REAL pick as breakout player: JUSTIN HARRELL!

I can't go with a rookie or a 2nd year player who missed a significant portion of his first year as having a "breakout" year. My definition of breakout means they have been in the league for at least 2-3 years and have a quantum leap in their performance.

That said I will give the nod to JerMike as having the most impact for the team from last year to this year even though he has already had his breakout. He is hungry for the big money and will bust a hump to get it.

I won't be surprised if TJ Lang steps up and nails the LG position. Raji will please many with his growth at NT. Sitton will go Bowling this year, except he will miss it due to a SB conflict. Even though it violates my own definition of breakout Balaga will settle in at RT and do a much better job in his 2nd season.

That leaves Josh Bell (That dude still with the team?) as having the biggest increase ... NOT.

TJ Lang... kid struggled with injuries last season, but I fully expect him to make a run in TC and impact the team this season.. we have two spots inside that could use an influx of talent.. or maybe even push for time on the edges.

I think Desmond Bishop could really become a household name this coming year if his game continues to rise. After starting 12 games in 2010, going into 2011 as the starter I hope makes him hungry to finally prove his worth. Not saying he didn't prove it this last season, but it means even more when you are the opening day starter. Maybe he has already reached his ceiling, but I think he may be the breakout this season and turn heads around the league.

Morgan Burnett would be my choice. I felt like he was going to start immediately last year. He did, but then he went on IR, which obviously hindered his development. His intelligence is his best asset. I recall writing about how he reads and reacts well, but he even surprised me by garnering the reactions he did from the coaching staff. Charlie Peprah was an adequate fill-in starter, but Burnett is the future there. I would be surprised if he isn't a solid compliment to Nick Collins.
