If there were a book about being a football agent, Drew Rosenhaus read a few passages word for word today.
Speaking to the media, Rosenhaus said all the right things about new client Terrelle Pryor and his supplemental draft chances.
Rosenhaus lauded Pryor's character, pimped his work ethic, fawned over his physical skills and overinflated his client's value.
In Rosenhaus' estimation, a team will use a first-round pick on Pryor. In an effort to back his client, Rosenhaus even bashed 2011 NFL Draft top pick Cam Newton to a degree.
"This league needs quarterbacks," Rosenhaus said. "Are you kidding me? Middle round for this guy? You talk about Cam Newton being the first pick of the draft and he deserves it? Let me tell you what, I'll make all the comparisons all day long: [Pryor] is 31-4 at Ohio State. He has 8,000 total yards in three years. He holds 59 touchdowns -- a record at Ohio State. This is Big 10 football that he has dominated."
Quick, someone look up the random stats of Texas Tech quarterbacks. Send them to Rosenhaus. You may get a finder's fee.
During Rosenhaus' briefing to the media, he didn't mention or even allude to Pryor switching positions in the NFL. In fact, just the opposite.
"The reason that I signed him as a player, despite all of the prognostications and whatnot, is that I'm a firm believer after 25 years of experience that Terrelle Pryor will be a great -- not a good quarterback -- a great quarterback in the National Football League. That he's going to be a star."
At least one NFL player agrees with him. Shockingly, it's fellow Rosenhaus client Chad Ochocinco. Just assume Ocho knows English and correct what you need to from the following:
media said @tpeezy2 isn't NFL type QB,after running routes n seeing great timing n arm strength I beg to differ.
With the right coaching after what I saw today with my own eyes he can be a great QB.
Unlike most players, it's clear Ocho is getting some coaching this offseason. It just happens to be from his agent.
