That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Woah, 6'2" is pretty short for an NFL TE, isn't it? The good ones all seems to be 6'5" or 6'6".

I still find it funny that we rate these guys in college and compare that to the nfl.

I know if I were to play football when I was in highschool I would of probably dominated opposing teams (was 6'3 - 240 pounds of pretty solid muscle).

I see kids now adays and 6'3 appears to be average and I see alot of kids 6'5 and above.

... so in reference to this kid here - ya he is 6'2 and did well at his school. Again we are entering the NFL a mutibillion dollar business. He's going to be going against other people that get paid millions to do their job.

...

Even despite all this - I watched the story linked and really hope the best for this guy. But sometimes hoping for the best is not enough. The guy is 6'2 and he's going to be going against guys much taller. As a matter of fact we are overloaded at the TE position.

I think the even better reference as mentioned is Dustin Keller, also at 6'2. The main point being that it isn't so much height as much as the ability of the individual player. Not sure why you're being sarcastic about it. I don't think his "lack" of height is that big of an issue as long as he is a talented player.

I wasn't being sarcastic at all. I really didn't know that Dallas Clark was 6'3", and I really did feel better when I read that. It's good to hear about Dustin Keller as well.

I just got done watching the videos of our draft picks on youtube. Last year the player that really jumped out to me was Starks. This year we have 2 that really jumped out. Williams and Green.

Willimas is a football player first and a TE second. There were a few close up shots of him lined up. His helmet looked like it had been through a war. He blocks really hard and when he has the ball, it takes a lot of defenders to bring him down. He runs with great balance and avoids tackler well. When he can't avoid them, he delivers a punishing blow. He is smart and knows how to keep alive when the QB is scrambling. Watching him catch was a treat. You can see him look the ball into his hands with great focus. Unlike some tight ends, when he is making a catch, he can still move his feet very well like a WR.

I like this pick a lot.

I noticed the same thing about Williams. He may not be the best blocking TE but he certainly isn't afraid to stick his nose in there and try to smash somebody or deliver a shot to the guy trying to tackle him.

Just because Quarless had a better rookie year than Finley does NOT mean he will be better than Finley. That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. You can tell just by the way the 2 of them play that Finley is better. This is by no means meant to be a bash on Quarless.

"go.pack.go." wrote:

I actually see a lot of similarities in Quarless and Finley in his rookie year, although that means nothing when it comes to Quarless' future. iirc Finley had balls bounce off his hands, and he even griped about not being used correctly, and passes not being placed where he liked them.

Saying that, I'm a bigger fan of Crabtree than Quarless. Don't know why, I just think he's a scrapper with good hands.

I am kind of surprised that people say that Quarless, a rookie TE, had a bad year when he had a better one than Finley's first.
