Some of the word I'm getting on Williams is he'd have been a 2nd round pick if he was a few inches taller. Only 6'2, but natural pass catcher and thick build.
William Henderson didn't have to run people over. His preferred method was levitation.

I LOVE this pick. Great receiver has the most career receiving yards by a TE in all of the NCAA right now and will make a terrific compliment to Finley. It looks like Ted Thompson is trying to take this offense to the next level. Aaron Rodgers is probably giddy right now. Our offense could be ridiculous next season.

Is this guy the possible pass catching fullback that has eluded this team since William Henderson? He's a little short to be a tight end but good lord does he have some hands on him. Rodgers certainly has some weapons now.

Looks good. Great hands, solid blocker... methinks Spencer Havner is going to be looking for work next year.

I'm somewhat surprised about this pick. You've got a stud in Finley, a young guy with potential in Quarless, and a tough-as-nails dude who has potential and is possibly underrated in Crabtree.

On the surface we don't need a TE. But thinking about Finley being a FA after the next league year (if old CBA guidelines come back) and the fact that Finley has had an injury history in his time here... this pick makes some sense. Considering we kept 4 TEs last year, and Quarless and Crabtree have done nothing to merit being cut, I think there is a really good chance we keep 4 TEs again this year. Ted being proactive, it seems. A recurring theme in this draft.

Looks like we'll probably be carrying 4 TEs again next year. (Finley, Quarless, Crabtree, and Williams now) Williams definitely sounds like the outstanding character kind of guy Ted likes to have in the locker room.

Or Crabtree as well. I feel like his niche is pretty limited on this team honestly.

A lot of our TEs seem to fill a FB role as well. Quite a few times last year we would bring our TE in motion and line him up in the backfield. Then after the snap he would either stay back and block or go out on a route.

In other words, I think DJ Williams will add to the group at the TE position, but he himself is not the versatile TE/FB hybrid to play in the mold of Henderson. Frankly, it seems to be a committee approach to have that type of dynamic Henderson brought. Can't argue with the results that approach has brought.

dfosterf (22-Jan) : Was that site shutdown on your end or mine? No big deal, just curious
beast (21-Jan) : That way teams like Indiana and SMU don't make the conference championships by simply avoiding all the other good teams in their own confere
beast (21-Jan) : Also, with these "Super Conferences" instead of a single conference champion, have 4 teams make a Conference playoffs.
beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.
beast (21-Jan) : You can't assume Ohio State would of won the Michigan game...
beast (21-Jan) : Rankings were 1) Oregon 2) Georgia 3) Texas 4) Penn State 5) Notre Dame 6) Ohio State, none of the rest mattered
wpr (21-Jan) : Texas, ND and OSU would have been fighting for the final 2 slots.
wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : A great game. Give ND credit for coming back, although I am please with the outcome.

beast (21-Jan) : Oh yeah, Georgia starting quarterback season ending elbow injury
beast (21-Jan) : Sadly something happened to Georgia... they should be playing in this game against Ohio State
beast (21-Jan) : I thought Ohio State and Texas were both better than Notre Dame & Penn State
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame getting rolled
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : Ohio State just got punched in the gut. Lets see how they respond
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Notre Lame vs the Luckeyes, bleh
Mucky Tundra (21-Jan) : Oh snap!!!
