As every year we did a 7 round Mock Draft at a german message board with 32 guys picking for the different teams. Trades were allowed, but only this years draft choices. I took over TT's job as the Packers GM and ended up with the following guys. First post will include the Packers Draft picks, in the second post you can see the complete results of the Mock Draft.

#32: Aaron Williams, CB, Texas

[img_l]http://nflsoup.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/Aaron-Williams-Texas1.jpg[/img_l]

The first round didn't go in my preferred direction. My favourite targets Justin Houston, Muhammad Wilkerson and the premium OTs all went in the low 20s and I didn't have a chance to move up. A trade down was not possible, too (no offers), so I had to stay put and took Aaron Williams out of Texas. Williams has not the best speed and may be a bit of a tweener, but he is physical, very versatile, a willing tackler and has good ball skills. Overall a very good contributer in the backfield and should fit perfectly in a Capers-D.

#64: Titus Young, WR, Boise State

[img_l]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_Qh2Rsa36usc/SrMyLIKtjEI/AAAAAAAAAWk/eekd2wfYETI/s400/Titus.jpg[/img_l]

I would have liked Kentucky's Randall Cobb at this point, but he went in the low 50s. As I had a lot of options left at this time, I tried to trade down again, again without success. So I picked Titus Young out of Boise State. Not the biggest guy, but quick as hell. Young has very good hands, runs excellent routes and with his has YAC ability. Was very productive on the blue turf of Boise.

TRADE: Green Bay sends selections #96 and #129 to Kansas City for #86

#86: Sam Onyedikachi Acho, DE/OLB, Texas

[img_l]http://www3.pictures.zimbio.com/gi/Louisiana+Monroe+v+Texas+EawkNH0i3SVl.jpg[/img_l]

I had Acho in mind for #64, but picked Young. Acho kept sliding and sliding and when he was in range I moved up to grab him. Acho's quickness off the snap makes him an excellent pass rusher, that was very productive during his carreer at Texas. As a DE he's not experienced in coverage, but looked fine in th LB drills. In best case he could be the well needed complement to CM3. Good value here.

#131: Pernell McPhee, DE, Mississippi State

[img_l]http://d.yimg.com/i/ng/sp/ap_photo/20101128/all/l4875700.jpg[/img_l]

With Jenkins probably leaving in FA and Jolly being one heck of an idiot, DE help was required. McPhee has to bulk up a bit, but is very strong given his size. He can push the blockers back and is good in pursuit. Average pass rusher at the moment, but given his upside this can change.

#163: Willie Smith, OT, East Carolina

[img_l]http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/81/817567.jpg[/img_l]

Smith has the prototypical size for an OT and is very athletic. He played DE and TE early in his career and has only 2 years expreience at OT. Therefore he is very raw, but has a ton of upside that could help him to be a better NFL player than the higher ranked OLs. He will not provide immediate contribution, but could end up as a reliable starter in the future.

#197: Cecil Shorts III, WR, Mount Union

[img_l]http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_Gniie5UPJBI/S50rQXadoEI/AAAAAAAAAC8/oEdH4XrC2a4/s320/cecil+shorts.jpg[/img_l]

Hell of a college career, over 6000 all purpose yards and 65 TDs. Of course he didn't play elite competition, but those are number (better than his former teammate Pierre Garcon). He's quick and has very good hands, I liked him too much at this point to pass on him.

#204: Da'Rel Scott, RB, Maryland

[img_l]http://40-yard-dash-times.com/fantasy-football/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/DaRel-Scott.jpg[/img_l]

Very undersized back, but plays much stronger than you would expect. Had the quickest 40 of all backs and is a serviceable weapon in the passing game. Wil not break too much tackles and has a list of injuries.

#233: Alex Wujciak, LB, Maryland

[img_l]http://allmetro.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/3812812347_b5a02ea1aa.jpg[/img_l]

Very underrated ILB prospect. A pure tackle monster and a true, instinct football player. Scouts question his speed, but you have to have game speed when you're everywhere like Wujciak. Needs improvement in coverage, but should be a true contributor as a 2 down player and on special teams.

Overall I'm pretty satisfied how it ended up. All positions of need adressed with adequate players and (mostly) good value. Any thoughts??

I'm fine with a CB, 2 WRs, 1 DE, 1 OLB/DE, 1 OT, 1 ILB, and a RB who can catch passes.

That's pretty neat. We don't even have 32 regular folks posting here, let alone dedicated enough to do a draft. D'oh! It'd be fun as heck to do though.

btw, your picks suck, no QB in the first 3 rounds? You fail, Mr Thompson Jr! 😛

I like it, but I've heard that Aaron Williams projects as more of a safety, which we don't need. But he is very athletic and he does have great ball skills. So we'll just have to wait and see what Ted Thompson thinks.

for seven rounds. Nothing but respect for anyone that takes their time to do a seven rounder.

With that said, the top pick will either be A.J. Green or Cam Newton.

I don't agree with the first two picks, but the Acho selection is Ted Thompson 101. He's an overachiever, whose motor never stops. Hard worker. That is a very good projection in my view.

Great effort, I dont know enough about the players to opine on whether or not you've made good selections, but just based on the positions and your descriptions, I would be pretty happy with the outcome.

Oh okay it was community mock draft then.

Yeah, I meant the first two picks. In that situation, I would have gone Danny Watkins and Jarvis Jenkins.

Still, you get a plus one for the Acho pick. I wouldn't be shocked at all, if the Packers go in that direction in round two or maybe early round three if they move up. He's Packer People. 🙂
