really who was the worst coach starr or lindy.

is there a worst of the worst? I'll pick Tony Madarich as the biggest bust b/c he had so much hype coming out of college.

he even boasted about never giving up sacks in school.

I do not know if anyone remembers, but Howie Long played a game against Mandarich when Howie was a raider and tony was a packer. Long said early in the week he was going to embarrass Tony in the game and he surely did.

Actually Mike Sherman has to be in this conversation. Lindy and Starr did not have the kind of talent that Sherman inherited, and all we have to show for Sherman's tenure are those division championships whipping up on Chicago and Minnesota in their down years. I have asked the Sherman supporters many times over the years, why there are no trophies for the years Favre and Ahman Green were in their prime accompanied by a very stellar offensive line. Division titles only is not acceptable with that kind of talent.

Also, it makes you wonder, how would certain players have panned out had they played on different teams? Would Lott have been as good at GB?

I won't speak to Lott's performance but we all KNOW Barry would not have been a single yard less great that what he was. 🤤

Barry would've had even more. He probably wouldn't have retired as early as he did. He'd have been too busy winning Super Bowls to contemplate calling it quits.

If it wasn't for Barry Sanders, I think Wayne Fontes get's let go several years sooner, hell, maybe Ron Wolf and Mike Holmgren and Brett Favre land there if the Lions don't get Barry?

I just don't see the Packers winning a Super Bowl with Barry Sanders. It kind of goes to what zombieslayer was saying about having an elite RB not winning a Super Bowl on his own, which is what he'd have been attempting.

I don't think Sanders would have been as good on grass. Lott would have looked good in GB though.
I recall Campbell saying that the coaches ruined his career by messing with his throwing motion. Dunno what all happened with that, I was too young at the time.
Also don't know why Brent Fullwood didn't make the list. Dude wouldn't be healthy enough to play, but he was fine to go out dancing later in the night. Darrell Thompson sucked too, but at least we got something out of him.
Iirc Fullwood returned a ko for a td on his first touch, but then fumbled right before the goal line or something.

He doesn't make the short list. They got 600 combined yards out of Fullwood in 88 and 1000 in 89. So he wasn't a total bust. 2000 yards overall with 19 TDs plus about 1200 yard in KO returns.

Starr inherited a crappy team from Dan Devine in 75, with no chance to improve it. And with no QB worth spit to lead the offense.

Devine had just traded the '75 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round picks and '76 1st and 3rd rounders for a declining/over-the-hill 34-year-old John Hadl, who threw 9 TDs and 29 INTs in 74-75.

Devine ran the team into the ground, and then screwed it for years afterward. That wasn't Starr's fault.
