My sister called earlier this morning. She's housesitting and dealing with The Mom while I'm off conferencing in Buckeye land.

Lost Happy today. He was going to have his teeth cleaned and have a couple bad ones pulled. Pre-anesthesia tests were all great. No signs of anything wrong, in fact had been in great spirits.

But he reacted to anesthesia. Heart stopped, docs revived him once, stopped again, and they couldn't bring him back a second time.

Sigh.

I just feel empty. He was the sanest part of my life. Perhaps the only sane part. And I wasn't even there when he left.

Gonna be real tough staying sober the next few days.

RIP, old friend.

Oh Wade.......my heart just dropped.
Every one of my dogs are part of the family. They are like my children. And when I have lost them, it hurts so badly. I know how that feels. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
Anyone that has ever had a pet and loved them, knows how you are feeling right now.
I am truely sorry for the loss of your little loved one.
It's extra hard when it's so unexpected. You don't expect it when it's just for a cleaning, so you were not prepared for this horrible loss.
Again, my heart goes out to you.

Sorry to hear this Wade. I have the old collars and tags from my last dog hanging in the garage. I pick them up every once in a while. My current dog (8 yrs old) wonders why I am fooling with the old stuff when he is right here looking for my attention. He brings me back to reality.

Losing my dogs has been one of the hardest things in my life ... - he knows that you loved him.

Sorry for your loss wade.
Losing a long time four legged friend is tough.

For me, sometimes the old adage "you don't what you've got til it's gone" has sadly rung true.
