Buckeye - Cliffy will be back in '11. He played one of his best years of his career in '10.

I hope you are right, but after being voted to the Pro Bowl then being on the SB Champions, what better time for CC to call it quits...retire when he has finished probably his best year ever.

Face it, not many on this forum thought he would make it through this past year, why risk fate, CC has a chance to do something that most never do..Go Out OnTop.

IMHO it's going to be a tough decision for him to make, as I said before, i hope he decides to come back.

It is so hard for athletes to be content to go out on top. We saw it over the past few years with Brett.
If Clifton retires and GB wins a 2nd SB it will eat away at him. He will wonder if he ahd enough left in him to be a part of something rare- back to back SB championships.
He will be back.

Brett would not have been going out on top unless he had retired after the '96 season, so I don't think he's a good example. I agree with you in general, though. Going out on top means nothing to players. The only ones who do that are the ones who were going to retire anyway. I think we'll get one more year out of Clifton.

I haven't seen the Vegas odds but we probably have the worst odds in the NFL to repeat (from the gambler's perspective). Cliffy knows that we're the best team in the NFL and there's a decent chance for a repeat. If his body's up for another year, he'll be back. I couldn't agree with you more.

Worst odds compared to who? Previous championship teams? I wouldn't think there would be much difference, although in general it has become harder to repeat in recent years.

Look at all the guys we will be getting back next year. LOL. We won the Superbowl with like 3rd stringers and shit. I like our chances.

Thanks. I got wrapped up in looking at how hard it is for players to retire and I forgot the part about "going out on top" which almost never happens.

Glad you asked. Even though the Saints won the SB the year before last, they didn't have the worst odds. Pats did.

We're going to have the worst odds this year, almost guaranteed.

Is there really that much difference though, or is it something like 9-1 compared to 10-1? I wouldn't expect much variation from on year to the next.

Pats had 3-1 odds. We had 8-1 last year. If I remember correctly, Saints and Colts both had 4-1.
