I've said many times that the absolute best job in the world is being the guy who makes sports montages. The person's sole task is to string together half- to three-second clips of climactic sports action into rapid-fire sequences. What an amazing job. Fundamentally, all sports highlights are alike, so there's no possible way to go wrong. I mean, seriously, who's going to tell you, "Sorry, Bob, you didn't put enough action in that montage?"
Home runs, strikeouts, deep bombs, touchdown receptions, sacks, slam dunks . . . cut and paste that half-second of drama and move onto the next one. There's no such thing as a bad montage. The hardest part would be picking the bumper music, and that's probably selected by the producers or director anyway.
Not terribly intellectually challenging, but wow, what a life.
