I'll be the first to admit, at least on the field, Al Harris didn't do much if anything to help win this team a championship this past season.

That being said however, I do feel he deserves a ring as much as any of the other guys who wound up on IR.

- He was stilll around rehabbing and practicing with the team for a few weeks up until the last day to where the team had to make a decision on whether to cut him or activate him all the while under contract and getting paid his 2010 salary.

- He was a veteran leader and probably mentor to a lot of our younger guys, especially Tramon Williams. Getting to play behind both Woodson and Harris for a few years probably really helped Tramon develop into the CB he is now.

- The guy is a class act through and through. His thank you to fans in the WI newspapers was proof of that after he was cut.

While never on the field in a meaningful game this season, there is little doubt he had a lot of impact shaping the defense and secondary to allow them to get them to this point. I'd have no problem with the team giving him a Super Bowl ring because of the impact his tenure in GB had on the team even though he never technically saw the field in '10 for the Packers.

I really kind of doubt that he would accept a ring....
Green Bay: Home of the Green & Gold. And the hunter orange. And the camouflage.

The only credit I give Harris for this season is he wasn't a bigger distraction when he got cut. In my opinion that doesn't deserve a ring nor why would any player not on the team even want one?

Comparing an athlete with military??? Wow! I 100% disagree with even trying that route. I'd find a more realistic less offending method to prove my point, well no I wouldn't, but I wouldn't do that, lol.


I said it before and will again, I question whether Al Harris would accept the ring.

I guess in my mind, an athlete gets paid millions for little risk. A serviceman gets paid a tiny fraction of that while putting their life on the line, literally. Didn't mean to come off as a prick, sorry, guess I'm a little sensitive with that stuff.


I wouldn't be upset if Al Harris received a ring, I'd be happy for him. I just fear he'd take it as an insult, unless presented properly. "Al, your courage, your dedication for this team, the leadership in helping the young DB's needs to be recognized, and with that, whats your ring size?" something like that.

I disagree greatly on the "respect" topic as a whole with Nonstop.. and I seen an opportunity to tie respect to a life experience of his.. poor judgment and not normally something I would do. For the record, he made it personal with my father in a thread and hasn't so much as taken a moment to correct his mistake.

I have the utmost respect for those that serve in the military.. so I again regret my decision.
