http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/01/17/lovie-smith-downplays-packers-injuries/

The Chicago Bears have been one of the healthiest teams in the league this year, and the Green Bay Packers have been one of the teams most adversely affected by injuries.

But Bears coach Lovie Smith isnt offering Green Bay any sympathy.

A lot of has been said about the amount of injuries they have had, Smith said. All teams have injuries.

Yes, all teams have injuries, but its silly for Smith to pretend his team hasnt had good luck with its players staying healthy, or that the Packers havent had bad luck with a number of key players being lost for the season. Smith, however, doesnt want any excuses if the Bears win on Sunday.

Their core, [Clay] Matthews is there, you have a guy like Aaron Rodgers, and of course you add a player like James Starks running the ball, theyve had a pretty good nucleus to be able to play, Smith said. I saw them being one of the teams at the end you would have to deal with.

And if Smith thinks the Packers are tough to deal with now, just think how tough theyd be to deal with if they had had the Bears good luck with injuries.

Lots of Bears fans I talk to everyday in my day to day living of this hell called Chicago I live in, they agree the Bears are lucky with the lack of injuries. That's why they are riding the wave, have to as a fan, seasons can be special when you least expect it. Too bad this year's story of overcoming mounting injuries is a better story.

It's funny. When the Packers have all the injuries it is a non factor and it doesn't matter how many starters are out they still have one or two left.

however if it were his team... They lost Urlacher in week one last year and their season was over.

I take this as Lovie not so much degrading and downplaying, but giving respect. He is saying that sure we have injuries, but with some of the players we have, we are still a major force to be reckoned with, and us making it to the NFC CG was predicatable.

That's how I read it too. But then, who am I to challenge an assumption by Mike Florio?

Although this was written by Michael David Smith, you got a point for making me laugh!

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if Lovie and his team would talk smack about us. Let them focus on talking, and we'll focus on the game. Our incredible amount of focus will play a major role this weekend.

I think the comments on this article at PFT are the funniest. "Well, it doesn't even matter cuz your team is so deep! We'd be playing this week if we were as deep as the Packers, so shut it!" lol. Sorry our GM is better than yours.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: I hope Urlacher breaks his hand on Rodger's helmet again.

dfosterf (25-Jun) : of the folks that run this team. I do not recall Mark Murphy being subject to our vote.
