If Mason Crosby made that Fieldgoal against the Redskins in regulation time, The Packers would be the #2 seed with the first round bye and the Bears would be the #6 seed.

If Rodgers had not fumbled against the Falcons combined with Crosby making it the Packers would be the #1 seed.

Of course without Bishop's INT against the vikings the Packers may not have won that game and missed the playoffs.

Also what might have been if Rodgers had not suffered a concussion on the artificial surface?

The margin for success and failure is very small in the NFL. One or two plays a game usually decide the difference. The difference between the Packers and the Paatriots or Falcons is small.

Now the Packers only need 4 good games in a row.

Agreed... there is probably less than 10 plays that could have radically changed the season and our playoff position.

Hence why I focus at times on the little things.. like running the ball effectively.. and establishing the run game particularly for short yardage situations where we struggle to convert.

Other than Kuhn.. we don't have a player that we can turn to in the short yardage situations.. just one of those things.

Special teams can be a savior or a dead weight hanging around your neck.. yesterday I think is the lone time this season that our special teams made a critical difference in our favor.

If Mason makes that FG, who's to say the Redskins don't play more aggressive? That does not mean anything because there's a domino effect.

Same goes for the Falcons game, we don't know things would have been different because game plans are fluid on field position, score, injuries, etc ... it's not simple as add those three points.

I'll add this too ... we score that means we have to kick, how great are we on kick return coverage? That has to be factored in as well.

Regardless of my cynicism here, you pose some interesting thoughts.

The margin of success issue is especially evident this year because we lost 6 very close games (four by 3 and two by 4). If this weren't the case and if we had been blown out, this discussion would not be taking place. The fact is, there are many other things that had gone right (like the Bishop pick-6) that contribute to our team playing next weekend, just as there are things that contribute to our low seed. There are way too many "what if's" in this game to point fingers at which ones are the most important.

Wow, I'm dumb. I thought our last offensive play was the interception that Rodgers earned his first concussion.

You are right, as the play by play states ...
(:07) 2-M.Crosby 53 yard field goal is No Good, Hit Left Upright, Center-61-B.Goode, Holder-8-T.Masthay.

That was our last offensive play of OT, but the kick, as you point out (I didn't state this clearly enough) was the last play of regulation.

Two plays also defined Green Bay's season last year.

The first was Brett Favre's game-winning TD pass to Greg Lewis to beat the San Francisco 49ers.

The other was Ben Roethlisbergers game-winning TD pass to Mike Wallace to beat the Packers.

Had those plays not happened, Green Bay would have finished 12-4 and the No. 2 seed in the NFC, despite losing to Minnesota twice. The Vikings would have finished 11-5, with a loss to San Francisco.

I find that to be somewhat depressing.

one play that comes to my mind was the freaking call for illegal punt formation on 4th and 2 in the fourth quarter against miami. the phins drive continued and led to the fasano td. rodgers sent us to overtime with a td, but without this stupid penalty he could have set up a gamewinning drive.

I know you were probably focusing on the regular season but can't forget Rodgers' overthrow of Jennings in OT of the Wild Card playoff game. The end of that game just plain sucked.
