I love how everyone calls for his job now... Personally I have had quite enough of "Mr. Potatohead" but he should get a huge amount credit for getting Flynn ready and showing some balls in the first half.

It would be funny if Mike McCarthy's preparation, which kept the game close, cost him his job in the end. Had the Pack simply rolled over and died immediately, no one would be saying a word.

Mike McCarthy is still never going to cut it as HC and, like Dom, he should go back to being strictly a coordinator.

I think you're on to something, except we should go hire a real special teams coach and let each of them run their third of the game. Techinically you need to have a head coach, but there really is 3 facets to the game of football.

I think part of McCarthey's problem is that he doesn't know how to be a hardass.

Prove to me (other than your dumbass opinion) that he wasn't calling in a play.

Maybe you're name should be "I'm gagging on Brett Favre's balls."

The play should've already been know to all what was going to be called. Anyone that has played the game knows that. (so apparently u never played other the Madden). Not unheard of. MM called a brilliant game but was unprepared at the end and YOU KNOW THAT. SO COME OUT FROM UNDER HIS DESK, TAKE HIS BALLS OUT OF YOUR MOUTH AND ADMIT THAT.

When Green Bay Called it's last timeout Mike should have gave Flynn the plays he wanted ran for the rest of the game right there. Flynn should have went to the huddle and told the players the next series of plays right then and there. Mike McCarthy was at fault with the piss poor time management at the end of the game.
But it sure made be smile that it took a rookie starting QB in the game for Mike to call a balanced gameplan. This sure answers how good Jackson could be if we stuck with the running attack a bit more.

Did McCarthy not know it was 4th down? I find that pretty much impossible but my friend is telling me that he rewinded it and that he swears Matt Flynn kept saying "It's 4th down".

"tonyagnese" wrote:

No, he didn't know it was 4th down. He said in his postgame news conference that a big reason for the delay was that they were waiting for the referee to signal whether it was 1st or 4th down. That makes no sense to me, since it was obvious to everyone watching the game that they were a yard short, but whatever. I still think it's beside the point. The fact is they didn't have any time outs remaining. They had to throw it to the end zone. Why did there have to be a specific playcall? Put five on the line and just go for the home run.

LMFAO you're the 2nd biggest dumbass of the night (behind packer98).

Mike McCarthy had a GREAT game. Team really showed up to play. We just lost because of Flynn's inexperience.

"Stevetarded" wrote:

We lost because go.pack.go's brother had no fourth down play called for Flynn to get to the line with as well as pitiful time management skills at the end of the game.

Go Pack Go - LOL

"go.pack.go." wrote:

Keep blaming Mike McCarthy for the loss. He's the only reason we were even IN the game.

You should change your name to "Viking98."

"packer98" wrote:

That part I bolded is just completely fucking stupid and you are talking to other people about them not watching the game or knowing anything about football.... unreal.

"go.pack.go." wrote:

Really? I speak the truth.

The players had every excuse to give up on the season whether it be injuries or losing to the Lions. Yet they kept fighting and they very nearly beat the best team in the NFL.

Who do you think was the head of all that? Yes, MM.

I agree. I have been criticizing the lack of a running game all season
regardless of the injury to Grant, and finally tonight we have a running game. Oh, cept when on 3rd and short, MM puts ZERO backs behind Matt, which results in an INT.

Coaches coach...players play.

Woody drops a sure interception
Jordy drops a sure first down catch
James Jones gets cut off and quits on his route...causing the inteception
That Kickoff is just down right stupid, shouldn't have happend, had never happened before, will probably never happen again.

Through all these player mistakes, The Packers were still in the game, being lead by a guy making his first start, playing against probably the best "pressure qb" in the game right now, playing on the road.

On a night where The Packers had to play a perfect game, and get most of the breaks to go their way, which didn't happen, they still almodt pulled it off.

Reality is, if Vikings beat Bears tomorrow night, Packers still control their own destiny...So Kudos to The whole Packer team for putting up such a good fight, and playing such an entertaining game....and dammit Vikings win just one more game tomorrow night!!

Nobody gets FIRED this year!!!

You admit Flynn is inexperienced, and all of a sudden you want McCarthy to tell Flynn what plays are in order for the next 2-3 snaps?

That's a bit of an inconsistent thought process, no? Frankly you want Flynn to focus on the play called + on making adjustments, and not getting ahead of himself.

However, you should have a standard play you can call - teach it to all QBs to call - when you are around the redzone and need a TD inside 10 seconds.

Flynn had no chance once the ball was snapped because he had no idea of what routes the WRs would run. That's an inexcusable finish, and those are the details MM should have gone over during the practice week given this was Flynn's first start.
