Do you realize we have at least half of our starters out for the year?

Oh, and add Nick Collins to the injury list.

Why is it always head coach under fire? Although I didn't quite understand the 3rd and short pass play that ended in a pick, most of the playcalling seemed good to me.

Overall I was suprised by Flynn. Although he took more sacks than necessary, not a bad first start by any means. With some work, he could be great!

Special teams - WTF???? 'Nuff said.

Defense came to play tonite. The pressure on Brady was excellent. Again not perfect, but you will never see that with ANY team. I would have liked to see one of those bad passes picked off tho.

We fell short tonite, but I cannot see the logic in blaming the coach for everything that goes wrong. If our jobs were like that most of us would have a new boss every day. For coming in as huge underdogs, we sure made a game of it. I just wish we would quit giving away easy points in otherwise impressive games (such as this one).

LMFAO you're the 2nd biggest dumbass of the night (behind packer98).

Mike McCarthy had a GREAT game. Team really showed up to play. We just lost because of Flynn's inexperience.

"go.pack.go." wrote:

We lost because go.pack.go's brother had no fourth down play called for Flynn to get to the line with as well as pitiful time management skills at the end of the game.

Keep blaming Mike McCarthy for the loss. He's the only reason we were even IN the game.

You should change your name to "Viking98."

twebdonny is seriously talking shit; and frankly his opinion is jumbled up and his main point (fire McCarthy) detracts from any possible reasonable discussion of Mike McCarthy's short comings.

Mike McCarthy called a hell of a game; he had his team ready to play. Tremendous game planning, excellent balance, and frankly he had us in a position to win this game.

However, that final blunder of having no call is inexcusable. Seriously, you mean to tell me the Packers don't have any standard play they can call final play of the game needing a TD?

Now Mike McCarthy may very well have been trying to communicate with Flynn, but his headset may not have worked. Still, that is no excuse. You have to have a play call ready, or at least let Flynn know he has to call a final play should the clock get down to 10 seconds.

Yes, Flynn is inexperienced. All the more reason McCarthy should have been better with these little details.

All in all, McCarthy called a great game. He had his players ready to play. But he does deserve serious questioning of how the final 25 seconds of that game played out. We do not need to do something drastic as fire him; that's totally unjustified.

But there is a worrying trend developing, and it is starting to look like Mike McCarthy's shortcomings are causing this team games. Still, that is not to say he should be fired, but that at the least he needs to do some critical self-analysis.

So How Long should he be kept around? Is being sorta OK, at least some of the time, good enough? If you are satisfied with being average, then keep the guy, and average you will be, and Aaron will age and the chance of returning once again to the big show will fade away.

I wonder if we could get a 2nd rounder for Matt next spring. God knows we need the Olineman.

Did I miss Zombo's injury. I didn't even know who the OLB opposite Clay was.

BJ Raji is becoming quite the player. Very pleased, he seems very well grounded as well.

The last thing we need with Rodgers one good hit away from scrambled eggs for brains is to trade away a very serviceable QB. I'd think Ted Thompson would make sure he's paid well enough to stay.

Zombo was injured last week.

You think if teams are interested in Flynn as a starter he is going to sign on with the Packers to be a back up? No chance

I agree, he is gone. Probably will be competing for some teams starting QB spot next season.

Maybe trade Rodgers instead? Nothing against him, but the Packers will need to evaluate what they have thoroughly before unloading one of those guys. If Flynn goes I think he should be worth at least a 1st rounder or a 2nd and 4th or 5th.

I love how everyone calls for his job now... Personally I have had quite enough of "Mr. Potatohead" but he should get a huge amount credit for getting Flynn ready and showing some balls in the first half.

It would be funny if MM's preparation, which kept the game close, cost him his job in the end. Had the Pack simply rolled over and died immediately, no one would be saying a word.
Mike McCarthy is still never going to cut it as HC and, like Dom, he should go back to being strictly a coordinator.

With a potential lockout next year, I don't see the use in firing him now and having an off-season where we can get nothing done.

Give him the next year. Frankly, you don't consistently blow out teams in the NFL. The Packers will be in close games, and it'll be pretty obvious (record-wise) whether Mike McCarthy has learned from the past.

If we still are atrocious next year (in which we hopefully have more - preferable all - of our playmakers healthy) and these problems persist... demands for his firing are going to have to be taken seriously.

But after the performance of our team today? You seriously want to fire him? Come on. And given his overall body of work with the injuries we've suffered, you still want him fired? Again, that's silly.

Still, his shortcomings are becoming harder to ignore each game they make an appearance. I will say, though, Mike McCarthy had a hell of plan tonight, and finally stuck with the run game. It may have been out of necessity, but I pray he realizes the wonders a more balanced attack headed by Rodgers could do; consistently stick with the running game!

I'm just trying to have an open mind. Truthfully we haven't had time to really evaluate Flynn to support your statements. IMHO he looked no worse than Rodgers' first start and with time Flynn could be really good like Rodgers is now.
