Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers might not practice all week, and his status for Sunday's game at New England remains unclear.

Rodgers sustained a concussion -- his second of the season -- during the Packers' loss at Detroit last Sunday.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers won't practice until Friday at the earliest, and even that seems unlikely.

"He will not practice throughout this week and will go through the protocols," McCarthy said, adding that Rodgers also didn't participate in meetings or study film Wednesday. "Slim to none chance he will practice Friday. The decision (on his availability for the game) will be made Saturday.

"We will not put him through the conditioning portion of the testing before Friday."

Backup Matt Flynn took the majority of snaps in Wednesday's practice, with practice-squad quarterback Graham Harrell also receiving some work.

"This week, (Flynn will) take all the reps," McCarthy said. "We'll spend extra time.

"It's important that when we get on that plane Saturday, he's fully prepared. We're fully confident in Matt's abilities."

Three more starters -- defensive end Cullen Jenkins, guard Daryn Colledge and outside linebacker Frank Zombo -- also sat out the portion of practice open to the media Wednesday. McCarthy already has declared Jenkins out, and the coach said he is close to doing the same for Zombo.

"I don't see him making it," McCarthy said. "Maybe he'll surprise me, but I think he's a long shot this week."

Several other starters -- left tackle Chad Clifton, linebacker Clay Matthews, defensive lineman Ryan Pickett and guard Josh Sitton -- were limited at practice.

I love the almost subliminal Pro Bowl ads.

If Rodgers doesn't play, we lose the game. Even with him in, it's still an uphill climb.

No way he plays. Sounds like this concussion is more serious. I understand that they're all serious, but Rodgers looked different when he went down. I think he hit his hard hard on the turf. His first concussion was caused by helmet-to-helmet contact and it wasn't exactly slamming heads either. The players' helmets barely touched. Head on the turf looks more severe. But I'm not doctor or an expert on these things. Just an observer.

I'm a Twins fan who watched Justin Morneau sit out the second half of the season with a concussion. They can be serious. If he is hurt, he NEEDS to sit out.

I remember the last time we were in Foxboro. We had band aid secondary and we were considered dog meat by everyone, their grandma, and dead relatives. We actually won that game, so I'm reminded of something my old man told me years ago about the Packers - you never give up on them cause they are the only Professional team that carries a college spirit.

It was a knee to the helmet that caused his concussion.
