The way I see it, Chad Clifton will be manning Left Tackle once again next season, which brings us to a problem. Right now we are a pass blocking offensive line with what I like to call TNS (tiny nut syndrome). I would really like to see new lineman from Wells over to Clifton to be able to run the ball effectively. But with Clifton back next year, you might as well keep Wells at center too.

What needs to be done in the offseason is to let Colledge walk and let TJ Lang have the LG position. Keep Bulaga at RT and of course Sitton at RG. You keep grooming McDonald and Newhouse as backup tackles and try and get them some mop up duty in real games. But in '11 draft, I believe Well's replacement needs to be drafted. We will never be able to run the b all with light n the pants Wells anchoring that line. Colledge's ineptness in run blocking intensifies the problem and Clifton, well come on, is a total liability in run blocking. We have racked up a lot of passing yards with Clifton at LT in the last 12 years, but I like to be able to run the ball too, and I have seen too many games like last week's Atlanta game.

McDonald is a backup center, is he not? They're bulking him up for next year. Lang will be RT, Bulaga will be LG and Newhouse will be LT. Cliffy will sprain a knee in training camp and be done.

You really think Newhouse is ready to step into the LT position while Bulaga is demoted to LG? Seems pretty unlikely to me.

I like Dakota's scheme if Clifton is still in Green Bay next year, but we are on borrowed time with him, so a more likely lineup from left to right would be Bulaga, Lang, Wells, Sitton, Newhouse. I wouldn't be surprised to see a high round draft pick starting somewhere in there as a rookie, though.

i dont see why any of you are expecting any of our current backups besides lang to be able to start. what gives you that confidence in them?

believing McDondalds will ever become starter material is silly IMO.

same thing said about Breno GeicmmiNarnia(?).

until he (effectively) blocks one of the top 62 DEs in the league, he is just a roster-filler who doesnt even play STs.

Just guessing. It is common for players who sit the bench to eventually become starters.

True but more starters started their careers as backups than straight away as a rookie. Are we really discussing this? lol I'm with Dakota; our left side is back on their heels way too much.

Of course, it's equally possible that after such a massive overhaul of the line, we could end up with a line that not only can't run block, but also can't pas block either. That's a really scary prospect.

As long as the pass blocking is there I wouldn't tinker with it too much. Pick your weak spot (Colledge) and replace it if you have a guy who is worthy but don't throw a bunch of guys into new positions just for a spark in the run game. I don't know about others but I just can't forget how terrible this offense was to watch without good pass blocking last year.
