What he means, and this is something McCarthy talked about in the post-game press conference, is that he felt our D has been performing stronger than our O this year, and that deferring on the toss would be not only a hella strong statement but would benefit getting the ball in the second quarter away from home as a momentum shift/hold.

And it worked, goddammit!!
