I remember Shields being Ahmad Carroll bad in the preseason and people were bugging out(especially ME, cuz we were somewhat counting on this guy).

Then game by game, he improved.

He got coached, got playing time, and is now starting to become a reliable player. Top CB in the league? We'll see. With Charles and Tramon playing, he will have his shots, cuz they'll be throwing his way a lot more than the they'll throw towards Woodson or Williams.

Bottom Line: Looks like a solid draft pick at a position we most definitely needed it with Charles getting old and fally and Harris gone. Well done, Packers!

That might be one of the best things about him so far... You'd reckon that they'd try to take advantage of the undrafted rookie when you see Woodson on one side and Tramon on the other, but they haven't.

He's been targeted 17 times this entire year (Thanks Chrisbozz), while they've been going after Tramon like crazy (51 times) and Woodson getting quite some balls thrown at him, as well (41 times).

And I know, he's "only" the nickel corner, he's not seeing as much time as the rest and he's not facing the nr. 1....

Thing is, we're in our nickel defense way more than our base defense. And even while he might not be facing nr. 1s, he did do a great job on guys like Roy Williams. Someone who's certainly not the Pro Bowler he once was, but still isn't a slouch.

But this is the way you find some talent. He barely played CB in college. He was amazingly raw. You don't look for big school guys who contributed a little for their old team, you look for gems. Guys from smaller schools, guys who have been career back-ups but have shown potential, guys who can, or have recently, changed position. This was a great pick-up.

I don't remember that AT ALL. He was a bit raw, but he looked like he had some ball skills--something that Ahmad Carroll never had. That pick six in the Family Night scrimmage was a perfect read of the QB and a fantastic return, weaving through traffic for a 100 yard TD. That was a jaw-dropping play from a rookie, especially an undrafted rookie.

At family night, do fans cheer when both offense and defense does well? Meaning they cheer on every single play? I want to move to Green Bay.
Green Bay: Home of the Green & Gold. And the hunter orange. And the camouflage.

Shields would have been a high round pick if he hadn't lit up a blunt like the week before. LOL.
Ended up as a free agent. GREAT fringe signing by TT.
The Packers have developed some great players from the fringes, especially in their secondary. Count Peprah there. As someone noted, even Bush has looked like a player lately. And what can anyone say about Tramon? Just about everything. Great staff, imo.
SOOOO glad they ditched Bob Sanders. SOOOO glad.

Shields is quickly becoming one of my favorite Packers. Just an exciting player to watch...what a move by Ted Thompson bringing this guy in.
