Maybe I don't understand the game of football correctly, but last time I checked, games are scored by points for you vs points for them, not yards for you vs yards for them

I had noticed that.
The Packers were 2nd until the Patriots lit up the Steelers and the Steelers dropped from 1st to 5th.

The Packers lead the NFL in net points. (Thanks Cowboys!)

We play a lot better when we get sacks and turnovers...they're big momentum changers. See the Miami game to see how we play when we don't get sacks and turnovers.
