Wanted to elaborate good conversation. Nothing like having a few drinks and chillin' with either smart people or "artistic" people and talking either politics, history, fine arts, music, pop culture, differences and similarities between men & women, etc. That's good stuff.

Funny thing (I'm not making this up either) is I remember good, intimate conversations much more fondly than sexual experiences.

I love talking to people who open up their soul when they talk. I've had good conversations that go until almost sunrise. One I remember fondly is a girl I had a crush on for years (I was seeing other people and we never overlapped when we liked each other as when she finally started liking me, I was already with the future Mrs. Z). We talked until her father almost woke up to go to work and I had to jump out the window before he woke up.

Not just limited to women. The majority of my emotionally intimate friends are men. It's easier that way because it gets weird when you've been emotionally intimate with a woman you later sleep with and it doesn't work out.

Well put. Stimulating, intimate conversations where you learn a ton about somebody, and they about you, is one of the best intangible gifts one can give to another.

The lack of good conversation is probably my single biggest beef about the modern academy. Those outside would be surprised at just how little people inside share those sorts of conversations.

Political correctness has exacerbated this lack of conversation, but I expect it was a problem long before the PC police took control.

The irony would be hilarious if it weren't such a waste: the institutions that claim to value the "examined life" and "community" are about as bad as it gets at putting the two together.

(I'll defer to those with more experience on the relative value of sex and conversation. I will only say that I have a hard time imagining sex with anyone I couldn't have a conversation with afterward.)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

That's actually sad, very sad. Universities if anything are supposed to be the place where you can be the most open-minded and open when it comes to speech about anything. If anything, professors should be the most interesting people out there when it comes to conversations.

I do think this is partly due to political correctness as I have seen over the years more and more professors speaking in "guarded" tones. Started in the early 90s and really got going in the mid-90s.

I don't like clutter, and I don't like people whining about anything. I especially am peeved when I have to listen to people who have gone from their father's house to the frat house to their cushy office chair complain about things like taxes and welfare. Everything else I can tolerate.

I enjoy most of the things that many of you have already expressed, but I mostly enjoy watching my daughters grow into young ladies.

Warm Fuzzies?
Warmth in general. I hate crawling out of bed in the morning or getting out of the shower on a cold day.
Music and dancing. I'm a terrible dancer but I have a hell of a time doing it.
Food. Food is amazing.
Friends. Nothing beats hanging out with your buddies and just having a good time.
Not giving a fuck--knowing that we're all going to die someday so my time here on earth should be spent doing the things I enjoy with the people I love.

Pet Peeves?
Misdirected anger.
Ignorance and hypocrisy.
People who care more about what you do than you do yourself.
How come people can't put the new toilet paper roll on the damn spinny thing? I always have to do this. It takes less than 10 seconds.
Spite and revenge.

Plenty more I'm sure but just a few things that popped up.

I have a really weird pet peeve that bothers me to no end, yet I find it to be illogical, stupid, and even kind of mean. Bear with me:

It started when I was a kid. I had a brother that was older by three years and autistic. He spent a lot of time growing up playing video games and since we only had one system I spent a lot of time watching. Once I was able to play more I started getting upset when my brother beat games--games that I specifically bought for myself--before I had a chance to. I remember buying Halo and playing through the single player with my dad. I had more of a social life than my brother (he was autistic) so he ended up beating the game before me. I don't know why it bothers me but it really pisses me off.

Enter my roommate. We both go to school. I work and he doesn't. So I spent about 50 bucks last week on Fable III and played it over the weekend. Today he "borrows" it (grabs it out of my xbox 360 when I'm asleep) and proceeds to get much farther than I am while I'm working. Now, it seems stupid of me to get upset but the fact that I paid for something he didn't and he's much farther in it than me...it just plain bothers me.

It feels like a bought a model plane and, because I'm busy, it's taking me time to get it done. Next thing I know my roommate finishes the model for me.

Or it feels like I bought a book and as I'm nearing the plot-twisting end I find out my roommate borrowed it yesterday and finished the whole thing. For some reason it takes the fun out of it for me. As if getting there first makes it more exciting. And no, I'm not one of those people that posts "first" on internet comment sections lol.

It also upsets me when I buy a movie and my roommates watch it without me before I watch it.

Does anyone else get this? I don't want it to upset me but I just kind of seethe inside lol.

Pet Peeve..

The need to label another personally because they don't line up with your viewpoint.

This is awful, but one of my pet peeves is when I really like something, like a band perhaps, and it is not very well known. Kind of like AFI back in the day. And then they go "main stream," not because they changed their style at all, but because everybody now loves them. They were mine first lol.

Also, I HATE when people literally SAY "FYI" or "asap."

Yeah, I know where you're coming from here. Two incidents immediately come to mind.

I've always been a fan of Queen. Night at the Opera is one of my favorite all-time albums. Well, I was listening to it once with a bunch of friends and some of them were saying it was "weird" and "gay" (and not in a kind way). Then the Wayne's World movie comes out and these same morons are now Queen fans and want to borrow my Night at the Opera record. I told them no.

Same thing with Guns and Roses. The clueless masses hated them until they became popular and suddenly loved them.

People who can't decide for themselves what is cool drive me nuts.
