I lean slightly toward keeping things as is, considering that Tauscher was not playing well before he got hurt.

There was one day in Ted Thompson's career with the Green Bay Packers, where I was near to jump on the Ted Thompson hater bandwagon. He traded up to 23 and I was sure he did it to draft Oher, but he took a guy named Clay Matthews. 1,5 years ago this raised a "WTF, trade up for an overrated LB" question and I was really pissed, but as from today ... THANK GOD Ted Thompson was picking and not me. Oher is a pretty good LT, but having the Claymaker is priceless.

Bulaga did a pretty good job to keep his job, so does Peprah. I would keep the OL as it is, I'd prefer 2 changes if Cliffy goes down over giving the job back to Tausch and keep Bulaga off the field.

Funny, because I was the opposite. I was on the I hate Ted Thompson bandwagon up until that moment. Now I'm a Ted Thompson supporter.

I am of the mindset that there are few things more important than team chemistry. I think you keep things as they are because it's working out well. The line is playing at a maybe their highest level in the last three or four years. Bulaga is gaining valuable experience. I don't see how you can mess with this lineup. If Clinton gets hurt, you make the move and deal with it. And it's not worth worrying about now. It's been quite a while since I've been this happy with the Packers' line play.

The Packers need 3 good tackles. They have them.
Be glad they don't need 4.

Does it really matter which 3 are starting?

Bulaga is only a 21 year old rookie. He will get better in a few years.

If Lang gets a a full offseason workout and can develop or Ted gets another good one Clifton or Tauscher could be a cap casualty depending on if and how the new cap is structured.

No Mark doesn't get back in, the line is playing at too high of a level at this point to do so.

In mop up time, notice whom was shifted to left tackle, the guy with the "short" arms drafted last season.

Point is.. and Cheez mentions above, we now have 3 game tested tackles when Mark returns, with two more in reserve, Lang and Newhouse. Don't forget, the Packers played Newhouse at left tackle much of the preseason.

Additionally, I don't see it as a bad thing that guys are being developed off the field for a season or two in place of the trial by fire method of the past couple of seasons. Unless they can play out of the box like Bulaga has shown.. what a steal that late in the draft.

Bulaga is playing too well to go back to sitting behind Clifton--who is arguably playing the best football of his career--and Tausch, who IMO did nothing to really impress me this year. Tauscher is getting old and torn up, and I think that as far as talent and chemistry go, we NEED to keep Bulaga in.

Completely agree. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It's nice to have a contingency plan in preparation for people getting hurt (taush at right, bulaga wait for his more natural position on left side), but it's also not worth jeopardizing great chemistry in anticipation of something that may not even happen (injury).

Knock on wood, but I think whoever was poking the packer voodoo doll has moved onto the colts anyway.

Tauscher, at this stage of his career with his inconsistent play this season, is going to get paid pretty good money to be a reserve at RT and veteran leader in that locker room for the rest of the year. He'll get ample time to recover his shoulder injury to boot with how well Bulaga is playing. You've got to go with the 5 best guys you have no matter what position you'd ideally like them to play.

Tauscher's contract for the remainder of the year is guaranteed and it's very doubtful you'll find a street free agent or practice squad guy who will play as good as he can when healthy (and know our offense) despite his play being down.

beast (21-Jan) : Also in college football, is a bye week a good or bad thing?
Martha Careful (21-Jan) : The tournament format was fine. Seeding could use some work.

wpr (21-Jan) : Oregon and Georgia were locks. Without the luxury of extra playoff berths, Ohios St would have been more focused on Michigan game.
wpr (21-Jan) : Zero, no. If there were only 4 teams Ohio State would have been one of them. Boise St and ASU would not have been selected.
Zero2Cool (21-Jan) : So that was 7 vs 8, that means in BCS they never would made it?
