"Surprised" by decision to cut Moss, Favre focuses on the immediate future
After Vikings coach Brad Childress took a tongue-lashing and/or finger-wagging from the media regarding the decision to cut Randy Moss and the manner in which it was handled, quarterback Brett Favre took the podium to discuss various topics.

Though he was able to duck some of the early questions about Moss, Favre eventually waxed philosophically about the situation.

"Randy is Randy," Favre said. "There's probably certain routes he doesn't run as well. But there's one in particular that you're scared of. . . . Did he hustle on every play? I don't know if Randy's ever hustled on every play. That's just Randy. . . . I thought it was worth a try, I was surprised by the decision to let him go."

Favre also talked about his own health, and it sounds like he'll be ready to go on Sunday against the Cardinals. He was asked specifically, "How's your chin, foot, ankle, elbow, anything else we don't know about?"

In response, Favre said, "Aside from all those, I'm great. . . . I probably should feel a lot worse."

He said the foot injury still bothers him, but he pointed out that it didn't affect him when it was time to play on Sunday. "I wasn't anticipating getting smacked in the chin," said Favre, "but it made me forget about the foot."

As to that smack in the chin, Favre was asked if he passed the applicable concussion tests.

"I don't remember," Favre said, reprising a line he initially trotted out last year in an interview with NBC's Cris Collinsworth. "I did," Favre then said after a pause.

As to the team's current status, Favre was pragmatic. And he realizes that things aren't over yet.

"[It] could be in my opinion a better ending than last year," Favre said.

Wait, maybe he really does have a concussion.

WTF Brett?

Heh. Randy Moss getting canned was probably the best thing to happen to Brett this year. Notice, when was the last time someone asked him about his ding ding?

You don't wax philosophically, unless it's possible to be philosophical about polishing your furniture, your boots, or your knob. You wax (that is, grow or become) philosophical.

Overall, I wish would just shut up about his wounds and play the game.

Oh, but if Brett doesn't play well, there's always a very good reason for that. Just ask Grave, he knows.

I would've expected Favre to be more angry about the move, to be honest.

Maybe he realizes that if he acts angry in public, his own ass is on the line. I highly doubt he wants to risk getting cut. He wants to go out on his own terms.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn't be at all shocked if he agreed with it. I can't think of a QB more likely to take stuff like not trying to catch the ball more personally than Favre. I bet he got sick of that mighty quickly.

I wonder if Brett still holds a grudge against Ted for not signing Moss lol.

I don't think anything pisses off Favre more than a WR who won't put effort into catching everything thrown his way. That's why Favre loves Driver so much. Driver may not be the best WR, but he's going to go for everything whether it's catchable or not.

I'm sure the 2 passes that drove Favre nuts were the very last pass against us and that one PI against NE where Moss should have caught it and got a TD, and then declined the PI penalty. Both, Moss didn't even put effort into.

As was said, i think Ol' Brett realizes he's no longer in a position of strength. He could be sent back to OL' miss any day now. So he's a LITTLE more careful of what he says.
