Someone made the point in the chat room that running three consecutive times forced the Jets to burn their timeouts. I still don't agree with the play selection -- I can see how it easily could have backfired -- but it's an interesting possibility to consider.

I wonder how much those 3 run calls resulted from Masthay's great performance today.

Maybe McCarthy felt confident he'd still be able to pin the Jets deep with no timeouts, given our punter finally coming through.

Another thing we didnt turn the ball over.Im still laughing at the fact that you think arod shouldnt start..
Look we won because are d played very well some times the offense wins games sometimes the defense does.

Are defense and ST won the game i was very very very impressed with masthay omg the best game this year for him.

If that post wasn't laced with sarcasm, you'd better be high, or drunk, or something.

They just SHUT OUT the Jets. AT the Jets. That's a good thing.

Objectively the Packers' offensive output was putrid. Rodgers was 15/34 for 170 yards and no touchdowns, while our rushing game netted less than 80 yards on the ground.

Yes, we can be happy about the victory (and yes, the Jets' defense is great), but this has to be concerning. This could easily come back to bite this team in other games.

What is up with our wide receivers this year? They show no passion, no real interest in the game. They refuse to lay out for catches. If the pass isn't perfect, they simply give up on it. They have no confidence whatsoever. I've been scoffing at the notion we have an elite receiving corps for the past couple of seasons, and it's really becoming apparent this year. I'd be tempted to shit-can the entire crew and just start over.

Watching the normally unflappable Rodgers scream "SHIT!" on the field today said it all.

Valid points, I'm a jones fan, but the bomb was bullshit, in his fucking mits! Jordy had a nice backshoulder and a great 3rd down conversion, but he's streaky, and though injured, DD is stricken with the droppsies.

The WRs dropping some passes was a concern. First half, Jennings had space and tried to catch the ball with his chest. Granted Jennings was going down, but you cannot do that.

Then James Jones dropped a pass he should have caught (a similar one he caught last week).

A couple of plays Rodgers threw the ball away, which I don't mind at all. That makes his completion percentage slightly better.

In my opinion, this game exposed the fundamental weakness of this offense without Grant: we do not have RBs that can hit the hole fast enough. In other words, McCarthy may very well be limited by some of his (lack of) personnel.

Yeah the Jets are pretty good. But you know what? So are we. Or at least we SHOULD be given the talent we have at pretty much every position. Yet, as with every other game this year, MM finds a way to underperform.
I actually predicted this win, if you check the official game thread. I think the defense looks awesome. Capers is getting so much out of the players he has left, it's unbelievable.
BTW, that was me who noted that the tree running plays forced the Jets to take all their timeouts. But running place don't necessarily HAVE to mean 3 yard losses. You know?
No way they re-up Jones next year.

I'll worry about the offense tomorrow - they just went into the Meadowlands (or whatever they're calling it) and beat the "best team in the NFL". No turnovers for us, three for them. Two sacks allowed. Solid play in every phase of the game. Great win.
