FarmVille Interruption Cited in Babys Murder

[img_r]http://mashable.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/farmvillemom.jpg[/img_r]A 22-year-old mother from Jacksonville, Florida, has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for shaking her 3-month-old son to death after his crying interrupted her FarmVille game.

The mother, Alexandra V. Tobias, was arrested in January and declared her plea on Wednesday before Circuit Judge Adrian G. Soud, The Florida Times-Union reports.

She told investigators that she shook the baby, smoked a cigarette to compose herself, and proceeded to shake him again. The baby may have hit his head during one of the two shakings, she said.

FarmVille, named one of the worst inventions in recent decades by Time magazine, has more than 60 million members, most of whom access the game through Facebook. Some players have found it so addicting that theyve lost their jobs and racked up debts north of $1,000.

Needless to say, it is Ms. Tobias and not the game itself that is responsible for the death of her 3-month-old son. This is not the first time that a virtual game has led to murder; in 2009, 28-year-old Joseph Johnson of Chicago was charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting his companion in the head while playing an Xbox game.

er...what is Farmville?
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

I don't know what it is. But like Formo said, not surprising. "Games" have lead to these kinds of things for quite some time. "Dungeons and Dragons" seemed to have started it, and it has snowballed from there.
You never heard this kind of stuff happening from "Monopoly".
Weak minds don't seem to need much to lead them down the path of destruction.

PC, that's because you are not weak minded.Look at the picture of the woman.......if you look into her eyes, you can see the back of her head.

But seriously, if this was the kind of "mother" the kid would have had, maybe the child is better off where he is now then having to spend a lifetime with THAT as your "mother".
I bet she goes out and gets knocked up again, and has another kid.
A "poster girl" for sterilization if i ever saw one.

You seriously blame these games for shit like this? So now whenever we fuck up we can blame it on games and everyone's like "OH MY GOD! I KNEW IT!"

Farmville in itself is a terrible game, that gets no arguments from me. But a while back I read about some guy who killed a police because he saw people do it in GTA. And so, the penalty was reduced and a lawsuit against Rockstar Games was filed. I don't know, but that's just stupid to me.

And don't forget, movies and music have been causing these reactions for much longer than games.

Games, Music, Movies, etc do not lead to violence. How we raise our children to respond to certain situations does. Teach your kid said activities are not life important and they won't feel to be as such to them.

It falls on the parents and it really bothers me so many people make excuses.

Zero2Cool (17h) : Test results on Sam Darnold’s knee showed a knee bruise and no structural damage. He is not expected to miss any time.
Martha Careful (20h) : Not with Dalton apparently
Mucky Tundra (23-Sep) : Not sure what to make of the NFC South so far this season (outside of the Panthers being a dumpster fire)

Zero2Cool (22-Sep) : Malik to start. Love inactive. Per report. Let's go!!
buckeyepackfan (22-Sep) : I think J-10VE will be inactive, a little twist that could be put in is run a wildcat with Wicks at qb. Have him as emergency qb if needed.
Zero2Cool (21-Sep) : I think that's how it works.
Zero2Cool (21-Sep) : I'd go 3 QB regardless this game.
