We get one NEEDED win and all of a sudden things are back to being cozy for some, but let us lose another game and again the sky will be falling.

We are not a bad team, but we are far from good with all the injuries we have had.

The dline is as thin as it gets. When Matthews is out of the lineup, it is like we have no defense. We have a very adequate running game to say the least and the Oline is on again, off again every other week.

We had very high expectations to start the season, but have been plagued heavily by injuries. I'm still a big believer Ted Thompson likes to fill out the squad with young guys he is trying to mold instead of guys that could actually fill in to be good backups. We have several guys on this roster that have done absolutely nothing to help the team at all, so why are they here.

Dline needs to get after people, Oline needs to protect. we are very inconsistent on both.

Thoughts and comments welcomed.

I could easily jot down 10 things that aren't cozy for the Packers.. probably double that.

But when you look at the adversity that this team has faced early in this season.. all snowballed together and rather quickly, you need to start looking at the little wins in each of the game and the things that are starting to materialize again for this team.

We lost our horse in the running game in Grant.. it took several weeks for the coaching staff to find the recipe to, at the bare minimum, trot out a running game that isn't stuck in first. That does so much for the overall offense that it isn't even funny.. mostly helping the gents up front to give Aaron the time to let the Passing game develop.

That is huge.

There is little doubt that the Defensive line and the backers have taken the biggest hit of the season.. and it shows little signs of letting up with the Jenkins ding and Neal being shelved for the year.. Yet we seen a couple of the youngsters start to find their feel out there.. believe it or not, defensive players just don't turn the snap in and start to play like NFL players out of the box.. they have live game adjustments to make as they start to learn how to play here. We, at this point, have to be optimistic that it continues until guys like Jenkins and Pickett return.. then at that point, we now have our starters back and we have more experienced depth to step in.

The offensive line is settling down again.. I admit it is frustrating to see the process repeat yearly with this group under Campen.. but as we have seen in recent years they settle in.

We lost Finley which probably took a good portion of MM's playbook on reserve at this point.. yet we are seeing Quarless step up, Lee making plays and Crabtree showing he belongs.

Add to that, we are starting to prove that we are indeed as deep of a team as advertised when you see the IR report and that we have been in every game this season, and could have won just about all of them.

IMO, this is a transition phase of the season.. overcoming atypical losses.. and still in each and every game.

That speaks a ton..

I just hope with guys stepping up and gaining confidence in themselves.. that we start converting these close losses into wins.

After all.. they are our Packers.

I am sure that everyone knows that Pickett went out after the second series and Jenkins tweaked a calf in warmups and never hit the field and that happened AFTER the 45 man roster was named.

What you saw from a Dline that was not only thin but inexperienced in Wilson and Wynn so for me their performance was nothing short of GREAT.

When I read the Dline is "inconsistant" and needs to "get after it" I would have to say it's asking probably more than what is reasonable when you consider Harrell went out before he got started (which is a shame because I would be HAPPY to see him in the rotation right about now) Neal is out, Pickett tried and couldn't go and they had to sit Jenkins with the calf.

Now BEFORE Pickett went down early in Washington and even AFTER Jenkins broke his hand and before Neal got hurt I thought the Dline was playing pretty darn well and the sacks and pressures showed that.

The long and short of it is we have a good Dline but they are all busted up and I agree with 93 that the Oline is coming along better.

What we need is a bye. This would have been the perfect week for a bye. Not playing the Jets off theirs.

As when we lost Kampen last year, we see what Ted Thompson had done with this team as far as depth. We have GREAT depth. What team could lose as many starters and key players as we have and yet still have this much talent?
If anything, Jackson and Bishop are actually IMPROVEMENTS over the starters they replaced. Not unlike Jones replacing Kampy last year.
So thanks Ted. I'd still like to see Mike McCarthy get his offense to play to it's level of capability. Capers always gets "more than the sum of his parts." Mike McCarthy gets less than the sum of his parts from the offense. Consistently.

Good points, but I hardly agree with Jackson and Bishop being improvements over Grant and Barnett.
