Mike said they weren't going to give him support because they had to give Bulaga support.

Cliffy said that he specifically asked for no support (and it may have been to help out his rookie on the other end).

That was a bold move on Cliffy's part. I love it when a Packer can back it up. :thumbright:

We also have to give McCarthy credit for giving Bulaga help, which he didn't do a lot of against Miami.

Look beyond the match ups.. Clifton verse Allen.

The field was an equalizer last night.. put a relatively healthy Clifton on grass verse Allen.. on most days he holds his own. Add some moisture to the surface it probably sways the advantage towards Clifton.

Clifton from the hips up is still a very solid LT in the NFL.. it is his footwork that has declined mostly due to injuries with age factored in.. it is no secret.. Chad struggles with speed rushers.. put them on turf or a dry field.. Clifton then has to extend with his upper body more and gets himself out of whack leverage wise and generally gets beat around the corner.

I am not taking anything away from Clifton.. but look at the environmental factors and it becomes clearer why Clifton fared well last night.. and probably why people will be calling for his head in a couple weeks at the metrodump.. where he probably will still play solidly.. but probably not pitch a shutout.

Another noticeable thing the Vikings were doing last night.. they were bailing on the pass rush quickly if they were not going to get home... basically clogging up the short passing lanes and knocking down passes.

Wow Pack. You continue to amaze me with your analysis of the OL.

So by your assumptions, we should have Jackson/a TE offer some support in a dome?

Yes.. they should chip at the dome or make sure that they roll the pocket to the right and continue to bang a chip on Edwards.

The offensive line was the MVP of this game. Josh Sitton also blocked very well in the running game. Colledge also did some good things. Maybe they build off of this. Not sure, but at least for one game, they were all on the same page.

Pack, you are 100% correct about the playing field. Playing on grass (thich grass) helps a tackle with the speed rushers.

Solid performance from both tackles and may I add, Bulaga didn't receive help every play and was able to hold his own still.

I bolded the first line. Totally agreed, and more specifically, I'd give the nod to Cliffy.

I did notice the middle of the line looked good at run blocking.

A few people have said that it seems like it takes half a season for our OL to start working correctly. Well, is this what the rest of the year will be like? I hope so.
