So we haven't redone deals for veterans approaching the last year of their deals?

I agree, Hawk is not a 10 million dollar player.. but one can see a noticeable difference in Hawk with Bishop as his running mate verse Barnett.. if that continues.. I could see the Packers making an offer to redo his final year of his deal with a longer term deal.

But that depends on his play over the balance of the season and his willingness to work with the Packers.. Hawk isn't a special player.. but he has shown over the course of his career to be solid.. and the last couple weeks he appears to be on a bit of a growth spurt.. or should I say returning to his rookie year level of play.

Hawk isn't going to strike it rich on the open market.. so maybe Green Bay would appeal to him long term. For the right price for him and the Packers. 😉

Hawk will hit FA. Ted will make him an offer and Hawk will go shopping. Nobody is paying Hawk his price so the question is what is another team willing to pay.

My guess is we will be pretty loaded with healthy LB's going in and some team will pay him more than we will. I won't knock Ted with how things stand being in a position where he doesn't have to overpay.

I don't see us paying Hawk $10 million next year.

I would rather see Barnett gone than Hawk.
Hawk likes GB and I believe he would play for less to stay here.
If Barnett can't or won't play outside, turn him loose to go nightclubbing in the big city.
He has caught the injury bug anyway.

Yeah, Barnett does have a troubling pattern of injuries lately. Maybe Capers can do something with Hawk. Maybe there's some way he can set him up so he doesn't keep getting dragged for first downs. Dunno.
Barnett has refused in the past to be moved outside. A bit of a diva when it comes to that really.

I don't see them paying him 10 million next year but if you get him a 4 or 5 year contract extension and get his salary for next year down to 5.5 or so maybe he would consider it. Players generally do value having that long term security.

Bishop on Moss. That's a matchup the Vikes should be drooling over and instead it ends up with Bishop in a Packers caravan into the end zone. Beautiful.

Great game by Bishop last night all around. I love watching him lay the wood, which he did about half a dozen times.

He was just playing a short zone. But he did a good job. This was a great game for Bishop.

Hawk's gone next year. We'll get like a 3rd or 4th compensatory pick for him. Bishop and Barnett will be starting.

Okay Lucy... 'splain this to me.

Hawk is signed for another year.. the only way he hits the market is we cut him.. which then surrenders and compensatory pick... lost me here.

We aren't going to find many takers in a trade with his cap number.. unless he reworks the deal.. which he would probably do the same with in the Packers..

Barnett is the weak little sister of the middle linebackers at the point of attack.. the biggest knock on Hawk, in my eyes, was his hesitation in plays.. we are now starting to see Hawk attack plays, whether that is a new role with Barnett out or better feel with Bishop in.. or whatever.. he seems to be a bit more aggressive in the past couple weeks.

Speaking of, seeing him shoot through the gap to try and sack favre on the Shiancoe TD (actually non-TD) was awesome, I thought he was going to crush him then AP came up and blocked him but the force he was coming with kinda knocked AP back a bit I wanna see that replay again

here's a story from the Milwaukee Journal on Bishop covering Moss. kudos to Capers.

link
The Vikings thought they had gone ahead with 48 seconds left when Favre hit receiver Percy Harvin in the back of the end zone, but the replay official reversed the call on the field when it became apparent Harvin got only one foot down in bounds.

On the final three plays, Capers used Bishop out wide to bump Moss at the line of scrimmage and knock him off course. He was the most dangerous player on the field because of his height and jumping ability.

"I was just forcing him one way," Bishop said. "I wanted to make it hard for him to have a two-way go."
