While not tearing it up, Driver had a solid effort today. We barely had the ball so not the fault of Driver. 3 times, Aaron threw the ball to Driver and all 3 times resulted in big plays. First pass attempt was a nice 29-yard TD pass to Driver on a broken play. That shows that Aaron and Driver have good chemistry.

The second attempt was an almost 50 yard completion to Driver. I complained earlier that we weren't looking for Driver deep enough. Good to see this happen.

The 3rd attempt was a 12-yard completion to Driver for an important 1st down. Driver fought to tack on the extra 2 yards.

So another A earned by Driver from the Zombieslayer. Excellent effort/performance. He only had 3 catches not because of anything Driver did, but because our O barely had the ball today. Until the final drive, it was all Detroit in terms of time of possession and total plays.

Good news and bad news, Driver fans.

First the bad news. After 130 straight games of catching at least one completion, an injured (but still playing) Donald Driver did not catch a single ball all game long. He had one "thrown" in his direction. The ball was so bad that I could have thrown better than that even after two martinis.

Driver served as a decoy the whole game and helped open up things for James Jones and Gregorious. Now Jones is the good news. Remember back in 2007 I said how I was a big fan of James Jones, how he will eventually replaced Driver as our possession receiver? I also said he had a little bit of Sterling Sharpe in him. Well, he certainly showed traces of it yesterday. For all the Jones hate on this board, give the guy time. He's going to be good. Watch.

Here's to hoping Driver makes a full recovery asap. Miss seeing him throw in 100% effort with every play and fighting like Rocky Balboa for every extra yard of YAC.

Agree, Zombie, It has been said DD is tougher to make sit down than any other player, the guy is "The Ultimate team player", it was a shame his streak came to an end, especially since i had him in my lineup last night.

I am hoping DD can be convinced to sit down this week(they will have to take away his helmet!!!)that would give him 2 weeks to get healthy and be ready for the "Boys" then another week off with the bye, DD would be ready for the final run to the play-offs.

The Packers need a healthy DD for that stretch run!!!

couldn't agree more on the driver sentiments...

but I want to hijack the thread and agree with what zombie said. Back when there was talk about using jones as trade bait for williams out of carolina, both zombie and I were screaming no (maybe Ted heard us! πŸ™‚ because we/I know what he can become. He plays much bigger and tougher than his size, and is almost like a TE. The chicago debacle, and a slower than desireable development aside, the kid is showing how good he can and will become.

JJ's play last night hopefully will convince Driver and the coaching staff that he can sit for this next game and get healthy.

LOL.

Although it's funny, Driver is one of the only Packers (or maybe the only one) who still likes Favre, the person.

Na.. there were a number of players that came up to Favre before the game.. and after it.

I should mock it up with the Vikings overall.. which is what the intended symbolism really is.

The Irony there is Driver didn't have a catch for the first time in how many games..

Mucky Tundra (8-Aug) : beast, I thought the designate return from IR players had to be IR at cutdowns to 53, not before
beast (8-Aug) : It's a brand new rule, either last season or this season, prior, all pre-season IRs were done for the season
beast (8-Aug) : But the Packers would have to use one for their return from IR spots on him, when they cut down to 53.
beast (8-Aug) : I think the NFL recently changed the IR rules, so maybe the season might not be over for OL Glover.
